It's a US strain. One of these Avalon travellers flew to Qld and was contacted by NSW Contact Tracers and told to return and tested positive. All on that flight have been contacted. Another visited Cronulla RSL and that club is closed. These are obviously middle aged to older citizens who should have exercised restraint in travelling.

For the last century or so, people from this area have never left their little pocket of Sydney. Nek minnit, there's an outbreak and they're travelling to every RSL in Sydney.

Yes at the moment but some of these positive cases have travelled and been to places all over Sydney in public transport as well .. one day soon the penny will drop that mandatory wearing of masks is law !

Masks won’t save you. They are not the substitute for physical distancing and practicing good hygiene. They help only a very small amount and in some cases make it worse. Most of the people I see wearing mask touch them at least once a minute and then immediately touch other surfaces, with the potential to spread the virus far and wide.

Physical distancing and good hygiene does work

These comments are the reason why we have no chance against this virus .Leading virologist obviously have no idea as they recommend in confined spaces mask should be worn but hey it’s just a cough and cold right !

If the Northern Beaches can't get its act together, Operation Shire Freedom will be launched. The Heathcote, Alford's Point, Rail Bridge, Tom Ugly's and Taren Point Bridges will be destroyed. Keep your Covid at The Spit.

I would assume the spit bridge is up for the next 14 days?

Some of us who live here in the insular peninsular wish the bridge was left up permanently!!

The SMH article and our Premier alleges the source may be aircrew from commercial airline(s) not complying with their quarantine guidelines. The system breaks down when some entitled individuals believe the law doesn't apply to them. Time for gaol.

Well it probably doesn't help when the Premier herself fails to comply with the requirement to self-isolate while awaiting test results. Also, you can't just summarily start sending people to gaol...

You have to look after yourself as the person next to you could not give a crap about you or anyone else .. the sooner this realisation hits home the better ..Example -one airline crew last week did not isolate in any regard went out all night to multi venues and partied on exposing our whole CBD!

Cheap meals at the Rissoles
That’s why they can afford to live there ..
My guess ?

Sorry but that is reality. Not a cough or cold, It’s very serious and deadly and I treat it as such. If you have any symptoms at all you should not be out and about. Simples. Physical distancing and good hygiene are the number 1 and 2 priorities. Masks are a poor third and not a substitute for priority 1 and 2. You see people wearing masks and they think they are invincible, disregarding physical distancing and certainly not practicing good hygiene by washing their hands every time they touch their mask.

Nonsense.

There's a heap of scientific evidence to say that masks work.

Case closed.

Was on trains earlier this week. Packed train, there would have been lucky to be 15-20 people on the carriage wearing masks.

The bottom line is as a common citizen the simple mask is the only barrier we have .. many of your comments about the use of masks are correct . I was in woolies yesterday with a mask on and one cretin started coughing not covering her mouth .. everyone around me had no mask on and were non to impressed on the other hand I at least felt a bit protected ! It’s personal choice if you use one ..

In a lab yes, in a sterile environment a little. In the real world, not so much.

Perhaps I should have said mask alone won’t save you.

I think the mask is more effective at stopping the splutterer, than protecting the spluteree.

So why enforce any quarantine? Let's have a free for all so our rate of infection overwhelms NSW Health. Having family members putting their health and lives at risk treating Covid patients quickly cha ges your views on compliance.

It’s not the only barrier, that’s the point. Physical distancing is the main barrier as is good hygiene. I also would not be impressed either, if people around me were coughing and not covering their mouths. I have told many on a number of occasions.

See you felt protected, but your not completely protected and that’s the danger. As well as being airborne it also lives on surfaces, depending on the surface it can be a few minutes to several days.

If you feel more secure wearing a mask then by all means do so, but please be aware of all the dangers and practice physical distancing and good hygiene as a priority. I stay away from anywhere and anyone that doesn’t. I have reported a number of establishments that don’t.

Unless you’re showing symptoms why would you want to get tested ?
Wouldn’t you be better off staying home for a few days and waiting rather than queuing up with hundreds of people who might have the virus ?
I don’t get it !

Because you may be asymptomatic. ie you have the infection but not any obvious symptoms. You could be infecting others without realising it.
