Numbers heading in the right direction. Testing numbers need to remain high to ensure contact tracing stays ahead of any unknown sources.
Croydon and Wollongong cases are link to the Avalon cluster.
Good testing numbers in NSW. Kerry Chant asking for even greater testing which indicates NSW is going hard at the virus. Compare this action to the just over 13k for the last two days in Vic. You can see Chant also emphasising a test result is just a point in time. Also she highlights the need for exit testing. To me it is very impressive.
Chairman Dan has left the building .. gone fishing , only Labor leaders can go on holidays in times of crisis without being criticised and persecuted. Shuts the boarder down and goes on holidays and now Victorians are waiting up to 9 hrs to cross the boarder .. How’s the fishing Chairman Dan ?
I admire the brilliant mind of Dr Chant. The Vics are basically copying Chant's strategy of high testing rates and contact tracing. The Vic testing rates are a concern which may not provide an accurate picture of the spread of the virus in Vic.
The Commonwealth could really assist by providing additional pathology capacity in all States.
The outbreak in Vic may have started from a Vic resident not isolating for the full 14 days.
Interestingly, Chant made mention of the virus being detected in NB residents in isolation on days 11 onwards. Her advice I am sure was intended for other States. I read one State quaratined identified close contacts for only 10 days. She is very clever.
Oh come on, she's not the first to come up with the notion that extensive testing is the best path forward. All chief medical health officers are of the same opinion. Im not bagging her. Im just saying that she's heading down the same path that QLD have, Vic have - they all have. Testing is key. The message only gets through when there's an outbreak in a given area. At some point, unless borders are closed internationally for a much more extensive period, there'll be an outbreak that will outdo the capacity for containment with our current policy direction. Each and every leader is flying by the seat of their pants right now. I personally think businesses have to accept that they're gonna have to adapt to a changed world trading dynamic. And so do governments. The general population have to accept that moving around the globe so freely isn't an acceptable practice whilst the pandemic is about. Of course, punters won't like that. But the alternative is going to be the equivalent of trying to unscramble an egg.
