the family is very upset

You need to take this further @Radoush
Ring talk back radio stations, ABCTV and radio, CH9, etc.
There may well be others in the same stressful situation and this needs to be known.

Trust me Magpies, there are plenty of others in this type of situation. Many have approached different arms of the mainstream media to tell their story, NONE are interested.

You know by posting this sort of information online you are going to convince people to not have the vaccine? I think that is irresponsible, I am not saying you are wrong about what you are saying but people need to speak to their doctors about this sort of stuff and not rely on what they read on forums.

:100: agree about talking to your GP Cochise.

I doubt that anyone that decides not to have the jabs, would just rely solely on what they read on here though.
So rest easy eh!

The thing is mate, some people do exactly that. I'm not saying people on here do, but I know people who have decided not to get a vaccination based off what they have read online and some of them a using pretty dodgy sources for their decision.

Hey @MAGPIES1963 Kerry Chant suggested this morning to get 2nd does of AZ after 6 weeks to ensure you are protected sooner with current outbreak. You being in the country may still be better to wait the 12 weeks so maybe have a chat to your doctor this week.

Thanks for this @cochise
I'll certainly consider having a chat to my Dr. in Nabiac.

From what I understand the AZ jab isn't effective until you get the 2nd dose so they are recommending people get the 2nd shot early so they are protected during this outbreak. This comes at the detriment of the long term immunity it provides so you would then be looking at having to be revaccinated or boosted sooner.

No 100% correct there @cochise.

From the AstraZeneca:

Results demonstrated vaccine efficacy of 76% (CI: 59% to 86%) after a first dose, with protection maintained to the second dose. With an inter-dose interval of 12 weeks or more, vaccine efficacy increased to 82% (CI: 63%, 92%).

People just aren't getting that the disinformation that they and other propagate will actually kill people. We aren't talking about deaths from blood clots which admittedly is bad. The point is that lots more people will die of COVID than of any blood clot issues.

I have my second shot coming up. I got the Pfizer which is great. My parents though both got the AZ.

An interesting thing with the Astra Zeneca vaccine. In the early trials it was showing efficacy of 60% and it was not promising. In one of the trials they screwed up and only gave half the dose in each shot, but this trial with the accidental half dose achieved around 90% efficacy and that is obviously the dose they give out now.

FWIW I've just booked my shot. Some time in Sept I get it.

Good, because I feel that it will have some effect, even if only minor in the decision process making of some on here.

Not totally sold on what will turn out and the best medical approach, but there seems to be enough out there thus far to indicate that like other vaccines, it does more good than harm.

Still, like any vaccination program, it is going to require reasonable numbers to have a decent effect, so I too am on the bandwagon to hopefully be able to help protect even those that refuse it on little grounds.

My parents were told by their doctor is was providing pretty good efficacy after the first dose.

Indeed it is.

According to Kerry Chant today to be covered against the Delta variant you need both doses.

I am in the under 60 group. The wait for Pfitzer is ridiculous. Trying to book on the NSW health website it lists appointments available in the next 60 days.

Liverpool is the closest centre. Nothing. Drop down menu offers other places with appointments in the next 60 days. Nothing.

Thinking of booking in for AZ next week at the GP.

NSW government called for people to come and get their second shots if they are over 6 weeks post 1st shot this morning.

Got a link for that plz>
