Amazing to think people still think this way...gotta be a gee up

They’ll come around soon enough when they realise they can’t do anything without it.

No, not a gee up but reality. See I'll get vaccinated providing I feel safe with it, was thinking of Moderna but today read about 2 deaths in Japan from it in their 30s, people unlikely to have died from the virus. And 1 death from Pfiizer in NZ.
And then once vaccinated am I safe or only in a relative sense? Will I feel free or still restricted And will I need boosters every 6 months?

See if I don't feel safe with the vaccine I'm better off taking my chances with the virus,at the end of the day catching it hopefully light is the best proven long term immunity

Furthermore, once vaccinated why will I need to check in with QR codes? Imagine one could go to a WT game check in, see a heartless loss and then get told you are a close contact and have to self isolate for 2 weeks. Then there could be another variant and back in lockdown.

Right from the very beginning the way this was handled from China down, makes one wonder how in this day and age experts could get this so wrong. Does anybody remember the WHO in January 2020 coming out and saying that the virus only transmits from animals to people not people to people! Why didn't experts around the world advise their governments to isolate China before Xmas 2019. Then we heard vacines will give us herd immunity etc etc.

I've lost confidence and am starting to believe restrictions will be long term.
Hope I'm wrong.

The lockdowns won’t last. There will be a revolution if they go beyond Christmas, if not sooner.

Lol in form of what, protests? I’ve never known a group of people in such a position of weakness, act as if they are in such a position of power.

No, but people are fed up. I hear the same every day from all sorts of people from all economic circumstances. The clock is ticking, and the lockdowns must end soon otherwise Governments will suffer the consequences when their constituents turn on them.

They can be fed up all they want, but they won’t change anything.

So people have no say?

There will be massive pressure applied to local members to end the lock-downs. It will be political pressure applied. Given the tenuous nature of the majorities, it will be very effective.

I agree.

Said it since the start...

Good luck keeping Australians locked inside on 35 degree days when there's beaches close by.

Needs to be sorted by summer.

Hoping we are nearing that 70%

I don't doubt robust discussion has already taken place in the halls of NSW Parliament about this matter.

In parts of Sydney Covid where there are no cases, a strong case to open up could be made.

When you have five scum caught by Police at Leppington all of whom are Covid positive (and knew it and were supposedly isolating), the situation in the South West and West will never improve but get worse.

While I agree, to a degree, lets put it into perspective. All five were already Covid positive, sitting at a table on the footpath. As long as they didn't interact with anyone else they were not endangering the community. To call them scum is a bit over the top. Yes they breached health orders and should have been fined but let's not vilify them for this act.

Not the kind you seem to be implying

So you don't think people can turn on governments that are no longer representing them?

What are you suggesting, some sort of taking up arms?

Of course not, never have, never will.

What then?

There will be massive pressure applied to local members to end the lock-downs. It will be political pressure applied. Given the tenuous nature of the majorities, it will be very effective.

We are fully vaccinated and now want freedom to live our lives as we see fit with the other vaccinated in our community ..
I totally agree with the sentiment of lifting lock downs .. we know the consequences of doing this and that will be thousands of unvaccinated becoming seriously ill or dying.
The question is has the community got the stomach for it ?
We all are paying the price at present but do not think there will not be a huge human cost to this when lock downs are lifted .
Freedom in the UK is 10k cases a day and 100’s of deaths this is what’s coming to our community very soon ! That’s the price of Freedom !

If you have relatives or friends who have businesses which are under threat due to the lockdown or, have pre-existing medical conditions, many would agree they are scum. It is a disgraceful act of selfishness and flouting of health orders. Unless discipline is restored this current situation will continue.

A like for the Harry Hoo reference - most of the board will have no idea.

Nah, they knew they shouldn't have been there. They're dickheads.

See I'll get vaccinated providing I feel safe with it, was thinking of Moderna but today read about 2 deaths in Japan from it in their 30s, people unlikely to have died from the virus. And 1 death from Pfiizer in NZ.

Let's put this into perspective. In Japan they've administered 127 million doses of vaccine and in NZ nearly 3 million. Just consider those figures for a moment; 3 deaths (assuming they're solely from the vaccine) from 130 million doses. Why do people assume they're going to be the 1 in 40,000,000? You're way more likely to die from a bee in the back yard or a car accident on the way to Woolworths.

Also, we've had several people in their 20s and 30s die from COVID from about 25,000 cases - that's way worse odds then the vaccine.

And then once vaccinated am I safe or only in a relative sense? Will I feel free or still restricted And will I need boosters every 6 months?

We need boosters for tetanus, flu, measles, mumps, shingles etc and this will be no different. A booster isn't a major impost, it's just a part of a health regime like regular blood tests.

See if I don't feel safe with the vaccine I'm better off taking my chances with the virus,at the end of the day catching it hopefully light is the best proven long term immunity

No, you're not better off. You are far, far more likely to end up in hospital, in ICU, on a ventilator or dead than you are from the vaccine. And no-one gets to choose if they get it 'lightly'. If you're looking for 100% immunity death certainly provides it.

Furthermore, once vaccinated why will I need to check in with QR codes?

I would expect QR codes, social distancing and mask wearing will be with us for a while. If travelling it will be around even longer. I don't mind any of it actually, I haven't had so much as a sniffle since COVID started. Flu figures are at record lows so it shows the efficacy of a few simple precautions.

Should have been isolating and apparently not even wearing masks - sounds like they're just thumbing their nose to the rest of society. $5000 fines were well deserved.
