This isn't true. Someone posted this previously. Opinions are fine. You can't though create your own facts.

Just to clarify the last point:-

1. COVID could have come from a lab or from transmission from animals.
2. There is no definitive proof for the virus coming from a lab or from animals. This is in my opinion complete and utter crap however this is also reasonably common. We don't know exactly where the Spanish Flu came from.
3. The virus is not some special bio-technical bomb. It's another corona virus like the common cold. It behaves like a coronavirus.

As an aside the Flu mutates so much that each year a new vaccine is required as the virus is completely different. This is clearly not the case with COVID. Your argument is actually easily proven incorrect in that the vaccines have stood up so well despite the mutating virus.

What is interesting though is that your group seems to be all over the place:-

1. COVID isn't real.
2. PCR tests don't work.
3. The virus doesn't do any damage. 99.95% of people are okay.
4. Vaccines don't work.
5. The virus could mutate to be much more virulent.

The arguments aren't even internally consistent.

If I was an anti-vaxxer (and for instance I don't think the case for vaccinating kids is very strong) I'd argue that the risk-reward benefit for me is not in my favor and I am prepared to take the risk. That is a rational coherent argument. I've heard Kelly Slater and Joe Rogan state this argument. I don't agree with it but at least it's rational.

Immunity via vaccination and via contracting COVID also appears to be reasonably good in that people aren't getting extremely sick. Considering in a lot of countries we have 90%+ of people with antibodies this could be the end of the pandemic.

The article is just stating that we need to not be too happy about this situation just yet because we don't have the data.

Just as a side point we have very little information about reactions from people who don't have anti-bodies. That means the most at risk are the unvaccinated who haven't contracted the disease.

THESE VACCINES provide the biggest protection on a personal level. In terms of transmission, it’s minimal.
And with a strain that has an R0 value (transmissibility) as high as Delta, with exponential growth, THESE VACCINES have a minor impact on a community level. That’s a mathematical fact.
So what YOU’RE proposing is that healthy young STATISTICALLY NOT AT RISK citizens should take on a guilt driven responsibility to take a vaccine they don’t need to reduce the mathematically negligible potential of a vaccinated person being infected.

Because housing is such a crucial part of the Aussie economy a softer correction in 2023 is more desirable. We would usually have around 400k immigrants needing housing, for almost 2 years we've had closed boarders. They lower transmission and the risk of death. They do not eliminate Covid if that’s what you expected them to do. Same with lockdowns and restrictions. They give your pop a better chance of survival. It’s not an absolute science, it’s a game of giving a f$&@ about others.

We shall see soon enough how effective the vaccine you took will fair against Omicron. Otherwise, the vaccine you took was a waste of time.

Even if it's not effective against Omicron, it has still saved a lot of lives in the mean time.

The scientists noted that firm data was not yet available but early analysis of the variant provided “sufficiently worrying signals” for them to recommend “early and robust actions to prevent introduction and onward transmission”.

I read the whole thing. I've also followed up the available information on this new variant.

The worrying signals are as I've previously stated the mutation to the spike protein and that it appears more transmissible.

No one is stating do nothing. We need some time to assess this.

Right now though it doesn't look that bad. You can make an argument that this could be the end of the bad portion of the pandemic.

I'll add that I don't think we can stop this. We couldn't stop Delta. I am hopeful though that it's not going to be as virulent.

I suppose we will all get a surprise Christmas present this year called Omicron

Let's wait and see. I don't go for the dramatics. Calm, logical and rational.

What is interesting though is that your group seems to be all over the place:-

1. COVID isn't real.
2. PCR tests don't work.
3. The virus doesn't do any damage. 99.95% of people are okay.
4. Vaccines don't work.
5. The virus could mutate to be much more virulent.

The arguments aren't even internally consistent.

If I was an anti-vaxxer (and for instance I don't think the case for vaccinating kids is very strong) I'd argue that the risk-reward benefit for me is not in my favor and I am prepared to take the risk. That is a rational coherent argument. I've heard Kelly Slater and Joe Rogan state this argument. I don't agree with it but at least it's rational.

My concern with what you guys state is that it isn't factual. Most of the time it's nonsense.

In some countries with high adult vaxx rates it's the kids that are the holders of the virus.
