how would you write his contract without infringing in his right to free speech?

Because in Australia we don’t have a right to free speech. We actually have no bill of rights at all. America does.

That is right there is no free speech in this country any one that thinks there is are dreaming .
The thousands that died in wars were in vain trying to protect the freedoms of speech and democracy that they believed in !
The country is being run by leftist media that practices trial by media at every opportunity, small minority groups , CEOs of large corporations that run there own agendas with the threat of withdrawal of sponsorship, modern free speech is only ok when it does not offend well that is not free speech that is suppression of speech !
I practice Free speech and no one will tell me any different no one ....
Folau has the right to say what he wants ugly as it might be ...that right was given to us by the tens of thousands of graves of our for fathers in distant countries sometimes we DO FORGET !

The free speech discussion is a separate political and theoretical discussion.

Izzy is a very special football player and would be amazing in any backline. But as an employer I wouldn't hire him.

Yuck, that's why Folau will never be allowed back in NRL, because it starts all this nonsense about free speech and our forefathers and "good old days" etc. etc.

The guy is intentionally divisive and bring out a toxic side of Australians.

Well if the NRL want to end up in court like the ARU they will not register him.

Free speech, our grandfathers and great grandfathers are “nonsense “ according to you. Good one.

I don't think anyone is denigrating the sacrifices our forefathers made. Izzy has the right to repeat things from the bible. The NRL has the right to not employ someone who puts hateful nonsense online.

Id sign him for 2 years. Ive seen him play in the last 12 months and he still moves better than 99% players of the comp.

Think you would get far better value in terms of what you would spend and output than say Latrell.

If we signed Israel I would stop watching NRL till he leaves. Thankfully I don't think our club would want to and hopefully the NRL won't register him. 🙂

Dramatic.

We can become the Christian club. Open a makeshift church on the hill of Leichhardt for Sunday games.
Change our team song into a Hymn.

Izzy and the wife beaters or the ones who wanna condemn them for mistakes of the past.

I initially stated if he wins us games I'd have him. After reading a bunch of posts on this forum I don't want him here simply because I can't stand hearing that nonsense.

Anyone who thinks that someones sexual orientation makes them a good or bad person is a fool. Anyone who thinks that you should be able to state publicly that homosexuality leads to going to hell is also a fool. Keep your hate filled homophobic opinions to yourself.

So Folau can sprout his opinion, but those cannot express theirs because it is contrary?
Folau spouted his opinion . . well, he actually just quoted someone else's opinion . . . and was sacked ( wrongly, as the mediation court discovered ) and has been the subject of far more hurtful, bigoted and hatred filled BS than he "spouted".
The side of the discussion that hates him has had carte blanche to write, tweet, post, and say whatever the hell they wanted about the Church, Christianity, etc. Just look at the disgusting and derogatory remarks in this very forum and thread. Against Christianity, obviously. I don't know what censorship would apply if I said the same type of thing directly against the gays . . . but I bet it would get deleted before the ink was dry. That's the left's definition of fairness. Agree with my opinion, or else.
The side that doesn't think that Izzy did all that wrong, can't say a single word against the gays because they get shot down, sacked, sued, or their house burnt down.
Now, you were saying something about expressing an opinion ?
As for signing Izzy . . . I'd love for it to happen, but honestly just so I could watch all the Hillary's stamp their feet and throw the toys out of the pram in protest.

I don't want to condemn any of them within reason. People make mistakes. The laws today in relation to domestic violence are at times laughable and some bad women sometimes use this to their advantage.

None of that means it's okay to beat women or be homophobic.

i think that I fall into israls rant, but do I feel threatened, NO but lets get to the real elephant in the room, and that WAS THE, COE OF QANTAS, and because hes gay and gives heaps of money to the RU, the RU had to toe his line. if the RU had come out and stated we don't agreed with what he says and preaches every one would have let it slip within a couple of days. I don't agree with what hes said BUT I SUPPORT HIS RIGHT TO EXPRESS WHAT HE IS SAYING COMING FROM THE BIBLE. MY DAD always said sticks and stones will hurt u but words wont. the lefts driving this crap, move on.

Yeah the debate is nonsense. Izzy Folau is worried about gays and it sets off all this nonsense amongst football fans about whether he's right or not, whether he should be allowed to say these things or not... not one iota of it even remotely related to actually playing football.

The same-sex marriage vote period was toxic and alarmist, and Izzy generates the same content.

It's nonsense that Snake felt compelled to post that people died in wars to protect freedoms of speech and democracy, as if anyone is arguing to the contrary, or as if nobody knew.

He then goes on to start talking about leftist media, minority groups and corporate CEOs.

I don't want any of that stuff in my daily cup of footy, it's toxic and divisive and never-ending. That's the problem with Izzy, not specifically that he's praying for homosexuals.

Yes they will. Ever heard of free speech?

Some of the crap that is written on this forum drives me crazy. But people can say pretty much what they like, which is a good thing.

If you don’t like it, don’t read it or just ignore it. Your choice.

Just because you don’t agree with someone’s point of view, doesn’t give you the right to stop them from expressing those views.

It’s a yes from me.

I think you misunderstood my post.

I was saying it’s a pointless debate because the NRL have stipulated they will not register Folau. They backed this up reinforcing this view last week.

I don’t have a problem with people expressing their views at all. Not sure how you interpreted that from my post.

I think in modern day society people shouldn't have podiums to criticize people for being homosexual. I have friends who are gay and I think it's rude. The way this becomes a free speech/anti-leftist debate to me is all warped.

I am also not fan of the leftist trollop that gets dished out today as well hence my comments on domestic violence. Why do you have to be a leftist to think is okay to be gay and not have hate speech directed towards you in relation to your sexual orientation.

For mine it's two sides of the same coin. I don't agree with what he said. I don't think he'd be a good signing for other reasons outside of the theocratic nonsense, which I discussed in my first post in this thread.

I don't agree about shutting him down. But if you say things in a public forum you open yourself to all sorts of criticism. If I started endorsing what the Nazi party did prior to, and during, World War 2 I hardly think anyone on here would say "he's free to express his opinion, let up on him." That goes back to taking responsibility for what you say.

You're taking me to task now and behaving like it's all or nothing with me, which is clearly contrary to what I have said, so clearly you have only read that one line post and didn't take in context to everything else I have said in this thread. I've even pointed out reasons as to why I believe he still may be entitled to be registered due to the NRL's arbitrary definition of what constitutes their values.
