Couldn't care less

If the trade off for Woods and Teddy is the club finally realising that they need to stand up to petulance from the players/playing group in order to instil a more professional approach to football operations and attract top line players with professional attitudes well I am pretty comfortable with that.

Pretty much the way I see it. I also feel it's a shame we invested in players with ability but lacking the required character. I think that we've really gotten unlucky with the bunch that has just come through. It's extremely unlikely we will ever get such a poor crop again.

Onwards and upwards from here.

I agree in a manner of speaking, given our U20's and ISC teams aren't really showing a great deal those players will have to work their ring out to prove to Cleary why he shouldn't go looking outside the club for performing players.

Could well see a big shift away from the homegrown talent mantra that Sheens and Ronald tried to stamp on this club. Not a bad thing IMO, since it's done jack for us in the long run.

I would say that is certain. No more sunk costs into juniors like they have in the past. That is probably a good thing in terms of winning more games. No more paying out on potential, perform or you are gone. I expect a much more cut throat approach moving forward.

You still need juniors, but you have to spread your eggs. In other words you need a good mix and you can't put all your eggs in one basket.

Teddy will be a massive loss, but we are now in a position to improve our roster 1 thru 17 rather than have a lot of cap invested in a few players. I hope this will all turn into a positive for us, but you need class to win the big one and we are now short on class

You actually don't need your juniors. They are a good resource but not essential. You can pull those resources from any club. They don't have to be WT juniors. This is the reality lesson as a result of the money spent on the big 4 with very little return on investment.

The true gauge of a players quality is this.. how many of your players would be a walk up start in every other team in the comp?

You look at the current Tigers team list and you can honestly say that's 2 players.

Best comment in absolutely ages.

This is going to be my measure of quality. The three new names in Matalino, Reynolds and McQueen are all " Maybe"

Apart from woods and teddy.. we got none

Rubbish
So you think Nofo, Taylor and Moses wouldn't get game elsewhere?

At this point in time - No I dont - Walk up start in the Broncos, Roosters Melbourne?

Super man crush on Nofo and ET and they are guys I want desperately in my club

Who really wants Moses at that price and the weekends game showed.

It would be nice to keep Tedesco honestly, but on the other hand I really dislike having all our eggs in one player's basket which is how it feels right now. I would love to back a team of good players rather than one or two stars amongst average to slightly above average players.

I asked myself at the start of the year "what's changed from last year that makes the tigers top 8 material?" and it was nothing's changed.

What's happened in the past month or two is the best thing to happen to the club in the past 6-7 years. I truly believe that. Rip a bandaid off and it will hurt but the future is looking great. And judging by everyone else's comments I believe everyone feels the same.

This is what Cleary did at Penrith some old hard heads blended with youth and it worked until Gus thought Cleary was burnt out, I glad that they have Hook and we have Cleary.

I'm glad that Parra have paid over for Moses way over.

It all comes back to what have we achieved with these pretenders in our team. The answer is nothing. Imagine we signed them all last year. Youd have close to $4m of our cap on 4 players and youd have to settle for 13 other half decent players. Cleary takes control and either reduces or drops their offers. We save $350 by signing mautilino and $150 by signing reynolds. We add mcqueen, mwz and if we can get milne, packer, lolohea or TMM then already we are looking a better all round team then this year. Well done to the club, well done to Cleary and looking forward to good times ahead.
