So, at first it may seem a silly idea, but I think Sandow could perform well with us, and I think Parra would be a willing trading partner for Blair. There is no way they can continue to 'develop' a side around Sandow, when he isn't the sort of halfback that can hold a backline together, so they need to find a club that can take him. And who would take Sandow on that money?
Both players were massive mistakes for each club and are on similar years and wages. I think both clubs would love to get out of their contractual obligations, but neither club is going to be able to dump the contracts anywhere. However, I think Blair would be better at Parra and Sandow would be alright for us.
I imagine Sandow would play a Lui like halfback role for us. He can kick and create and having an attacking option like Marshall outside him will create space for him. Like Lui, he wouldn't play a traditional organising half-back role for use. His problem at Parra is that he is an ad-lib player being asked to play an organising role on a side bereft of talent. Like it or not, with Marshall and Farah on our side, we are never going to have the attacking structure of a Melbourne side. Thus, a player like Sandow doesn't have to organise and play disciplined for us. Like Lui, he is a liability in defense, but then so is Blair.
In an ideal world, I wouldn't purchase Sandow for the money Parra is paying him. But, I'd definitely prefer to pay him if it was a choice between Blair and Sandow. Thus, I think a trade with Parra would improve a bad situation for both clubs.
For Parra, they get a 80min backrower and they get rid of a contract that must be absolutely killing their ability to improve their side.
What do people think? I suggest this idea even though it is highly unlikely because it is much better than thinking about the club's actual on-field performances (particularly Blair's).
