Credit where it's Doueihi...

I prefer Staggs. But prefer Adam over Meany. After 3 knee reconstructions let the critics buy the first beer and the rest of us will listen. All night if we have to.

Don't get me wrong he is doing his job, but I think we need better if we want to win a permiership. Compare ADs off the ball effort to Luai's fight to crawl for the ball after the kick or his try saving scramble. You can also contrast it against the effort of Farnsworth to fight for every inch and to get to his feet after every play. Make that comparison and you will see pretty clearly what is missing from his game.

Unfortunatley AD talks leadership but doesn't provide it. If Benji can add that to his game then he is a keeper. Until he has that heart and drive, and I'm sorry to say it as I like the guy, he can be a weakness in somone else's team that we can target on our way to a permiership.
Coaches need to show Farnsworths runs over & over & over. He fights that hard for every inch that he has you believing he’s going to win a six again nearly every time. That desperation to win the ruck is an area we need to strengthen badly.

Staines was improving towards the tail of last year. Was running the ball back with some real intent. I think he has to be first in if Skelton is out. Keep AD where he is and has trained all pre season.
I think it’s hard to judge Staines off of last year - the team was completely different. I’d still obviously take Turuva and Skelton, but Staines may be much better either with current squad.

I think his critics are all about his inability out of yardage. He’s too light to contribute and that’s so important in the modern game.

Yep, definitely a valid argument. I think he runs pretty hard though. Maybe with him in the team Douehi and Toa take on more of that.

He's starting to remind me of Shane Elford a little bit. Playing that role gets easier once your forwards are winning the arm wrestle for you tho.

Having said that his kick outside of the boot for the amazing try against Parra.... not many modern Centers would have made that move or nailed it. He's a perfectly adequate 1st grade half on his day. He really looked the goods playing 7 in our trial against the Bulldogs as well.

There have been many times that I have been critical of Adam Doueihi and quite openly I have been opposed to the last two times we have renewed/extended his contract for a year.

Whatever criticisms you may have of him, there is something that you cannot dispute about Adam Doueihi and that is his determination and belief, after 3 knee reconstructions he has belief in himself both as a player and a player manager.

Starting to wonder if Adam may receive interest from rival clubs for a halves position given the lack of at the moment.
It was only a trial but had a good game when he played there plus his goal kicking seems to be an extra string in his bow wouldn't be surprised if a rival offered decent coin if the knee holds up the rest of the season.

A re-union at Manly even....

I think Douehi has established the kind of player he is.

He has the skills and talents to give you a line break, assist the halves and follow a good defensive pattern. Head on, he's very good defensively as well.

What he can't do is give you effort on effort plays. The amount of effort he puts in week to week will never be the same. He is poor when defending laterally.

He suits this team right now when forwards are dominating and there is less space out wide for the opposition. He also has a crazy good defensive half next to him.

This is my worry as well. I think he prefers to get his hands on the ball more and be a 6. But if we have a big year and are doing well then he may be happy being part of a winning culture. Time will tell.

His defence has improved out of sight since moving to centre. I am seeing him making a lot of one-on-one tackles to shut down dangerous attacking moves. The physical contact is good too, can no longer accuse him of being a cat. His goal kicking has generally been quite good as well.

Deserves a contract extension in my opinion.
