i've read a lot of comments about the pitch and one of my mates even said the play should've been called off coz the pitch was not safe to bat on.
i really don't understand so much hatred against a turning pitch. in australia, sa and england… green pitches are created that assist fast bowlers (which is the country's strength) so the subcontinental pitches are created to turn which is the subcontinental country's strength.
anyways, a great test by india..fantastic innings by dhoni and a great game for ashwin overall.. he had been all over the place against england but in this test he kept bowling in the same spot and varied his pace and length rather than the line.
what are people's thoughts about lyon? how long should he be persisted for? has his performances done enough for you?
I didn't have a problem with the pitch at all, it wasn't as if both teams were dismissed for 100\. If you knew how to play spin, there were runs to be scored. And if it wasn't for Dhoni swinging the game on that 3rd afternoon, we would of had a very tight finish on our hands.
**The only problem I had was when the Indians toured Australia they openly complained about the pitches being doctored which I don't think they are**, if they were, I don't think we would of had such green pitches when SA and England toured. The pitches in Australia are just how they naturally are.
About Lyon, well I think we have backed ourselves into a corner. We're at a point where we just need to stop the spin bowling revolving door. I think the selectors realise that and that's why they are giving Lyon a prolonged run. Those things aside and Hauritz and O'Keefe would be my two spinners for this tour. If Hauritz recieved the support from Ponting that Lyon receives from Clarke, he would still be in the side imo.
They complained about the piss up that the groundsmen and their mates had on the WACA pitch a few nights before the test. Totally different
