As expected the Indian spinners are grinding down the Australian middle order. 5/160, I wouldn't be surprised if we get bowled out for under 250\. I hope I am wrong.

Great effort by Henriques and Clarke. Anything above 350 is a great result I think. Hopefully the quicks can cause problems and Lyon has remembered to take wickets.

I agree 350 will be a good score & anything over will be a bonus. The thing that worries me is having Hughes @ number 3 & the Openers can be hit & miss but hopefully we can put up a good showing. Also what about the pitch? but then again why make it easy for us, its their home series.

I've lost count of how many times i've heard Ian Healy say that Brad Haddin is the closest thing world cricket has had from a keeper/batsman perspective to resembling Adam Gilchrist. Deadset, has he never watched an innings from Dhoni? Hits the ball harder than anyone else in recent memory

i agree with you 100 % , when Dhoni gets going he is fearless…

god this knock was amazing. he was just toying around with the bowlers.

i mean batsmen have scored 200s and 300s before but this one seemed crazy. for heaps of overs he kept taking singles off the 5th or the 6th ball. never seen anyone dominate the bowling like that.

fearless seems the right word

Perplexing decision by the selectors to go in with only one spinner.
If we had Warne fully fit and playing, you would still have to pick another spinner to partner him on that wicket.
The burden placed on Lyon in just his 19th test to carry that attack is far too great.

Carry the attack? Only 3 of the 8 wickets have been taken by spin. Patto has taken more wickets than Lyon.

The selectors should be shot for relying on Lyon and two part time spinners (both of which turn the ball further than Lyon,) on a deck that resembles the surface of Mars.

Imagine Doherty on this pitch, fast left arm spinners right into the rough. Jadeja has been lethal to the left handers. In saying that, the Aussies besides Clarke have had no idea how to play spin at all. If you are not going to use your feet, then at least start sweeping. At the moment they look like sitting ducks.

1 more spinner wouldn't have saved the Aussies here, and i severely doubt it will save them in the next test either

This could be a long series for us. We are in India and our spin attack is woeful. The Indians will keep producing turning wickets, where their bowlers will thrive and our bowlers won't be good enough to trouble them. Not good preparation heading into an Ashes series.

Conversely, look at how England went in India before xmas. They won the series

India should win this match pretty early day 5\. Ashwin has just totally outplayed pretty much every other spinner. A good effort by Henriques on debut. I'm not sure how it will affect the balance of the side though.

I wonder if we'll see dusty turning pitches in England?
