Is Khawaja really the answer though? From what I have seen he is only a smidge above average. Same with Hughes. Same with Warner. Just dont get peoples fascination with them. None of them are test batsmen.

I'm not sure whether he's the answer but he is definately a better player then Cowan with more upside left in his career. He's never had the opportunities like the other players in the team either.

There just isn't the quality of a Ponting or Clarke in the younger or elder batsman at the moment. Joe Burns looks like he has something. There is Kurtis Patterson and Nic Madison who are very young options and possibilities in the future.

Wonderful opening spell from Harris. I used to loathe opening the batting against blokes like that. Not fast or frightening by any means but always at you, forcing you to make decisions, no freebies, giving you no time to have a look and settle in. If you see him off you know you are in good nick.

I think it was an even days play with those last 3 wickets. The pitch looks like it will turn so Swan will be a handful but it looks like the quicks will be easier to face with the ball coming on the bat better.

Hopefully we can finish the England tail quick and get a good start to the run chase.

Ballsy decision by Boof to bring in a 34 YO who's liable to break down at any time, but gee it turned out to be a masterstroke Harris was by far the pick of seamers. Great captaincy by Clarke as well to bring Smith on when the chips were down late in the day, always thought he had a captain's instinct about him and this has become rather evident since he assumed the role.

Funny, the Aussies would have taken 7/289 at the start of the day, but at 3/28 so would have the Poms i think. Interesting morning, Poms still capable of 350+ with Broad and Swann to come.

Gee some Australian batsmen are egomaniacs

Watsons challenge on his LBW decision was gross stupidity at its best

I know it was only going to hit one stump , but the problem was that it was smack bang middle

Any one who has played long enough knows when it's plumb

and watson's egotistical arrogance then meant that Rogers didn;t feel able to use the last review when he was blatantly not out. watson is a prat.

Clarke has to be told he MUST bat at 3 or 4

we also need to pick a No 3 and just stick with him

Not sure who ( Watson looks like a 3) but we just have to make the call and be patient

Yeah Watson's decision was aweful…but Rogers and Hughes should have both been given not out. The LBW on Rogers was ridiculous. At least in fast motion Hughes's sounded like he hit it.

I'll admit I've had a few, but I saw no evidence Hughes touched that ball...any sober people got a view on that one?

But that was the problem Stryker , no evidence he didn't hit it either

Didn't sound like a nick , sounded more like spikes on the pitch
