“This Test match lasted 1084 balls, the shortest completed Test match hosted by Australia in 70 years.”

Imagine winning by an innings scoring only 267

Australia retains the urn inside 12 days. England spent longer quarantining on the Gold Coast.

Umm make that 6/5..lol

Fewest balls ever to a six wicket haul. What a performance.

Scott Boland's incredible spell at the MCG averaged a wicket every 4 balls, making it the 2nd best innings in terms of strike rate in Test History (minimum 4 wickets).

Yeah I was working today when I heard we'd won so early then heard Bolands 2nd innings figures couldn't quite get my head around it but knew immediately it was something special

Worst side in the history of cricket.

The worst English side at least. I’ve seen a lot of lopsided Ashes series in my life, but this would rate the as the worst I’ve seen. They have had literally two good partnerships and one good bowling day in three Tests.

I wouldn't even say one good day bowling. They had an awesome first session, and then took their foot off the throat. Australia had no right getting 82 in front. They completely shit the bed.

Great Aussie side with a lot of great moments over the first three Tests.

Hopefully 5-0 soon.

Love it.

It’s more of a case that the Poms are really really awful. Barely competitive. It’s not all down to Aussie dominance.

They gave the Indians a better shake than us and they are just as good if not better than we are.

We put in a good showing. The bowling performance thus far has been sublime. Never took the foot off the throat once. They managed decent scores in blighty against India. The ball moves less here as well but they couldn't deal with the bounce.

What worries me is that we will go back to preparing highways as we've had two tests not see out day 3.

Please no.

Test cricket shouldn’t be scores of 500 each in the first innings. Batters should have to work for their runs and bowlers should be rewarded for good spells. This pitch was great and better concentration by a few batters would have extended the match.

One test quality batsman, no spinner, no brutal quick and a pretty average fielding side, made this series a uphill battle for the Poms.
Of course the Australians have bowled really well, fielded well and done enough with the bat, but India, Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand would have been a much better contest.

Must be costing channel seven and Fox a bundle, lop sided contest and three day tests. Love a win, but love a contest more

We need to start hosting NZ a lot more, and give them Boxing Day.

They should work together and back a regular series with NZ where tests alternate between Australia and New Zealand across a summer. Work it so that the TV rights are shared. For example

Test 1: Gabba
Test 2: Christchurch
Test 3: Adelaide
Test 4: Auckland
Test 5: Hobart
Test 6: Basin reserve

Each country could host another country for a two test series before or after.

Won't happen as we host England and India in alternating years.

In the reality, it depends on the host's strength, e.g.
- India's pitch is always slow, and
- England always optimise the green wicket to help their swing bowlers, and they use the Duke ball with pronounced seam.

We must optimise the wicket to suit our bowlers/ batsman and kookaburra ball.
Also, I hate to see a benign wicket, where the bowlers have no chance.

If you had it as a four year event it could work.

Exactly. I hate watching 500+ runs. Boring. Games around 250-300 where a batsman can make a hundred if they stay in and work for it are ideal.

20/20 has destroyed some players. They can't seem to be able to just use up balls all day..wait for the bad ball. It's simple.as that.

100%

280 runs a day and/or 8-10 wickets is a good competitive days cricket.
