Amazing mathematical coincidence yesterday
Head , Kwajaja and Smith all got 10 ( 4's) and 1 ( 6)
Difference was no of balls faced
Head 40 ,Smith 188 ,Kwajaja 210
Although Kwajaja overall strike rate better than Smiths 70 vs 55
Josh Inglis also got 10 fours and a six.

Also Alex Carey scored 46, which is equal to 10x4 + 1x6.

🤯

Yes I am sure Konstas would have got a good score against this time attack
The logical guy to drop to make way for the kid is Labuschagne
Everyone cruising at a run a ball
Marnus was batting in survival mode with a strike rate of 40
Inglis is obviously a good fit at 5 or 6
Konstas at 3 if you want Head to open makes sense
I know vs this opposition it won't matter what our line up is but
You don't pick the kid ,Then he has reasonable success against the best bowling in the world , then drop him
Remember how Marnus got out in Sydney -just like he was conducting slips catching practise

Smith already missed a chance today at slip
When you add up all the misses during the BGT he's a bit 50/50 these days

Starc has 2 wickets ,Bowling really well
Flat pitch doesn't stop you bowling 140+ and swinging it
Me thinks perhaps Boland should have played

Problem with that is they’re keen for Head to open and smash up a score before the ball gets old and starts turning. I suppose Usman could bat 3 but it’s tough to move a guy who just made a double ton.

No I was suggesting Konstas at 3 replacing Marnus

I think there were a few reasons Starc was picked.

Overseas Boland has been very average. 7/370 in 4 tests overseas (3 England, 1 India), so averaging around 52.85 ish. Starc comparatively has taken 143/4242 which is just under 30 in 40 tests (14 England, 6 Sri Lanka and India, 3 Pak, SA, WI and UAE and 2 in NZ).

Additionally, Starc has one of the best records in the world taking wickets in his first 2 overs (don’t know specific stats but he’s reknowned for it). So, in Sri Lanka given he’s most likely gonna open for a couple balls then maybe come in again at the 2nd new ball it makes sense.

His batting is also significantly better than Bolands which doesn’t mean that much considering he’ll probably only contribute 20 more runs but it’s good assurance.

The last one which only occurred to me yesterday was the fact he is such a big man bowling such pace means he puts a lot of force into the ground bowling and during his follow through. Therefore making some excellent footmarks for the spinners to aim at which I saw Lyon do yesterday and he was getting significant turn off them.

However, in non-pink ball Australian test matches I would much rather have Boland in the team than Starc or any pace bowler for that matter. Boland has an average in Aus of 12.63 (Cummins 19.92, Hazelwood 22.7, Starc 26).

Shuffled to 3 better than being shuffled to the sideline and the possible effect on the confidence of the young guy .
Just think Marnus out of form patchy at best
I think the benefit of the team overrides the benefit of the individual. He’ll be fine long term if he’s as good as everyone thinks he is.

Annabel Sutherland built for Test Matches. Her batting has been pretty sub-par whole series and she really should have been batting lower than McGrath and Harris (in T20I specifically) but she’s shown up today.

In 6 tests (9 innings) she’s not scored a single 50, but 3 centuries including a double hundred at the WACA last year and averages 93. Definitely better suited to the longer form.

Not entirely sure how she’s getting a run in T20I as her batting avg. is 10 after 42 matches. Bowling average is decent at 22ish. WBBL stats aren’t impressive either.

Notice the poms are whinging again !
They lose the 4th T20 i to India to go down 3-1 in a 5 match series
Their complaint a batting allrounder Vikram Dube got hit in the head and allowed a concussion sub who was replaced for rest of match by a bowling allrounder Harshit Rana
So just like the last Ashes where most of them believe they would have won the ashes 4-0 except for Carey running out Barstow they now believe they would have won this series except for this sub being exactly like for like
Commentator Petersen and Capt Butler most upset
I like Vaughaney though saying yes not exactly like for like but England would have done the same if situation reversed

The Poms are undisputed world champions at moaning quite possibly because they believe the rubbish that their media spin about their "star players" being good and then reality hits when they face quality opposition.
