Agree. Even a declaration tomorrow after tea gives us 2 days and a session. We want to make sure there is zero chance of us having to bat again.

Also I'm sure we all remember India making 7/700 against us. Be nice to return the favour.

Hell yeah. If I were Clarke, I'd push it around early with Hussey and get a start and then go T20 after the first session and declare by tea. I'd love to see him break Lara's record, but not at the expense of a win. Gambhir & Laxman are sitting ducks and Dravid, Tendulkar and Dhoni are the only ones who look like an extended stay at the crease will threaten us, so two days + a session is nearly unattainable for them to amass a lead atop of a projected 350-400 run chase, even on a pitch that will break down.

We are playing for a draw at the very worst, but I'd love to see a two day head start to break these clowns down.

A huge congrats to Pup on his double ton and a half. It's not everyday you see it, lest against a side who is hardly a minnow in the Test format. Well done to my own favourite Punter, who has totally dismantled his detractors over his last 6 innings.

Yeah I can't see any reason not to even go on into the last session and keep em guessing and have about an hour at them before stumps 5 Slips 2 gullies ,short leg and get stuck into em

fantastic century by hussey clarke getting close to 300 now and the lead is pushing to 400\. clarke will more than likely but for the majority of the day if he can and send them in for 40 mins at the end of the day. the new ball still does seam on the pitch and if they bowl well could be over very quickly

Clarke beyond 300 (305 right now). First player to score a triple at the SCG and nice to finally see an Aussie at the top of the highest score list there. This partnership has almost passed the Clarke/Ponting record from yesterday (280 v 288)

Good decision. Great leadership shown by him also to go for the win over the personal accolade.

Could be well over by tomorrow afternoon if the first innings was anything to go by for India.

Bugger that CB - who remembers who wins these games? Everyone remembers Hayden got 380 and Lara made 400*. Nobody remembers the Windies drew or we beat Zimbabwe!!

I remember the Windies drew because of Lara chasing the record. Could have easily won the game.

Clarke showed remarkable leadership by putting the team first.

He had time to keep batting, but we have enough runs, id have batted another hour of so.

Great innings.

Hussey and Ponting both super as well. This time last week people were calling for their heads!

What about the pride as a nation we'd feel by having the highest test score again? Last time we only had it for a few months!

I beat Clarke was wishing he was captain in this test, he would have much preferred someone else to make the call for him.

This has been the best match I have seen for years.

I'd feel more pride if we whitewash these arrogant mongrels.

Your dead on the money CB…I want a 4-0 flogging.

Well done pup. Theres still many tossers out there that dislike you and say your nothing but a haircut and a hot girl. You have once again showed them and the world at large that you are a real talent in this sport and a selfless leader. So proud!

..and to Punter and Huss you guys are legends who have been vilified by idiots wanting young 20/20 showoffs to replace you. You have shown that only true class can succeed at this level. I find it particularly amusing that the last three players from Australias dominant era are the ones to kill India. Now the same people who have crucified these three guys are the ones yelling from the rooftops....got to love those tall poppies....

must be a big year for scoring runs. kallis scored 224, peterson 109 and de villiers 160.could be a big year for both batsmen and bowlers

I know Clarke did something special over the last two days, but Ponting is the man of the moment.

Hussey was the shining star during the Ashes, and Ponting is always the man to rely on to create an innings.

The image of Ponting with a filthy shirt after diving over the crease to secure his first hundred in 2 years will forever be burned in my memory. It was so apt an image seeing as he scrapped and fought so hard for that century. I don't think Ricky Ponting has ever smiled in public the way he did yesterday.

The best part? His redemption couldn't have happened against a more deserving opposition!

I loved that mate. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up seeing his unbridled elation. Same with Huss, was our best during the ashes and got MOM in all Sri Lankan tests last year yet people wanted his head.

Ridiculous…

Given how well the pitch is now playing, the question is, can we bowl India out in 2 days? I'd like to think Lyon will be able to get some decent turn out of the pitch, but it's looking very good for the batsmen so far.

8 wickets in 6 sessions, surely we'll get that given how well we've bowled this summer and how poorly India has batted.

I was lucky enough to be at the SCG today to watch Clarke and Hussey bat in fine form. The Indians looked very ordinary, I'm heading back tomorrow and hoping for a full days play weather permitting.
