Cricket Season Thread

It was great to watch last night. I've been really surprised by India's batting in this series. It's supposed to be their strength but they really look shaky now while the Aussies just continue to grow in confidence and nail their gameplan. Would love to see Warner rack up a double century. If India don't get him early today, he'll take the game right away from them.

I found it strange they didn't make too much mention of the century in the session

It can't be that common these days with the slow over rates etc

Still remember Doug Walters smashing the six on the last ball of the session to get his hundred in a session

Yeah that was odd. Century in a session is a bit devalued these days because there are so many long sessions - Mark Taylor scored a century in a session when he made his triple century but the final session went for 3 hours or something crazy. Warner though was the real deal. I think they only bowled 29 overs.

23 overs Yoss for 149 runs. That's pretty special!

23? Crikey!! That is special. Cowan was moving pretty quick for a test opener but he looked like John Dyson compared to Warner.

It took the Indians 60 overs to make 161\. I agree with MM that the Warner/Cowan opening partnership could be a great combination. Cowan has been able to score more prolifically with Warner seizing most of the attention from India. Would love to see Cowan get a ton and Warner go the double-ton today.

You'd have to be feeling pretty low as an Indian player today. Dhoni needs to put a rocket up his team, because some of them are just not pulling their weight, and it's reflecting horribly on his captaincy.

The best piece of fielding i have ever seen….

Unbelievable effort!

Was pretty amazing Stryker.

This one is still my favourite though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvowwZsdhHk

Stuff Em… I just wish they bought that Habajan Turbin Head Bloke over so Warner could smash him out of the ground.

That would make it even better!!!

At the risk of sounding like a Monday morning quarterback, when they came out to bat, I said to my mate, a touch over 20 overs Warner to finish a 100 odd not out…. admittedly tongue in cheek, was super to watch.

The Australian team is coming along nicely.

What bat will Pup have in tomorrows test?
Kooka?

Have a feeling he will be using a Spartan…

Yeh bloke at work on Fri mentioned he'd agreed to a deal with them…note he still has a clean bat

He'll have his brand name next test (marketed and distributed by Sparten)

good luck to him

Well the middle order didn't offer too much resistance. Good to see Siddle contribute and the other bowlers slowly trickle the runs over to give us a 200+ run lead.

Had a major LOL at Yadav and Khan giving send offs… They won't have smiles on their faces when they're batting about this time tomorrow to save the draw.

Can I just say isn't it great to have the pitches we have had this summer

All have had a bit to offer both ways The aren't unplayable but also not highways like we have seen in the past As the commentary team have been saying your never in

If this was an ACB initative well done

It has been a fairly enjoyable summer from what I have seen (bloody work )

India are just useless and have no backbone whatsoever. Australia aren't as good as India are making them look. In the last 12 months India have been clean swept by SA and England, and its looking like a cleansweep atm. Don't be fooled into thinking the Aussies are back to their old ways, because India are just terrible. They only just mangaged to beat the Windies at home

I heard Micky Arthur say he "had full confidence in Brad Haddin"
I think this is the cricket version of "he has the full support of the board"

I expect to see Haddin get the axe or retire after Adelaide.

I think that Hussey is still offering plenty, he has been our leading runscorer each of the last 2 years, and is still going nicely.

Jury is out on Ponting, he is finding a way and has been pretty consistent over the last 8 tests or so, but he hasn't really been himself. Problem is no one is knocking down the door with mountains of runs at shield level.

How good a job is Craig McDermott doing? To me he is the unsung hero of our revival. He's turned some promising very good bowlers into world class test performers and resurrected guys like Hilfenhaus who looked like they were gone. Fantastic lines, well thought out plans, good lengths.

If CA have any brains they'll be signing him up long-term

i think a problem could be they dont play shield cricket while the tests are being played in australia. theyre playing T20 which is good for the fans and all but with the lack of games in sheild cricket it doesnt help the test squad.

i read today they are looking to have the shield comp on in the off season from say august - november then start back up again in march to may when theyre are no tests played in order to expand BBL which really isnt as important as tests but will allow more games to be played so could work
