Gilchrist in SA hitting some of biggest sixes I have seen

I remember that innings by Gilly, the fastest double century at the time, I remember him peppering the midwicket boundary and almost hitting the sign which would won him I think a million dollars. He also cried upon reaching his century because there was a bad rumour going around about his wife and kids and the SA fans were chanting about it at the ground.

Another innings by him which stood out for me was his 2nd Test 100, in India. I remember we were 5/99 batting 2nd on a raging turner and he smashed Singh down the ground and through midwicket, got to his 100 off about 70 balls and that was after he was on about 1 off 18 balls. Got to his 100 before Hayden did.

Maybe he IS the type of opener you're after Happy. After taking the shine off the new ball with an hour or so of stonewalling, Robinson has just been dismissed for 143 (off 215 balls). It's that kind of patience so that you can cash in later that has been missing in our test team of late. Everyone's favourite Australian Dutchman Tom Cooper closing on his ton too.

What are your thoughts on the opening to the BBL?
Personally it went how I thought and wasn't very fussed, there may be different team names but the line ups are virtually the same anyway.
I dont think this will be the money cow CA will be quite hoping for, could be wrong though, a good crowd is expected at the MCG.

I'm a Dirk Nannes man myself Yoss.

I think the Thunder/Stars game tonight will be the crowd puller. Warnie, Gayle, Warner, Bollinger, Hussey, White, Hastings. There's a lot of big names there.

How tough is McCullum? gets hit flush on the nose by a Brett Lee bouncer and doesn't even flinch. The only reason he went off is because of the amount blood there was

That was sickening. I've been hit in the face by a bouncer before and it sure as hell doesn't tickle.

McCullum took it like a champion.

The Thunder accounted for the Stars comfortably. Warner played out a captains knock and led them impeccably in the field. The scoreline could have been more embarrassing if Daniel Smith took Hussey when he was on one. Tell you what though, Damien Fleming was a disgrace as a commentator, so pro-Melbourne it wasn't funny…

hold your nose and talk and you'll sound exactly like him. To put it bluntly, the guy is a giant dork

And then came back out at first wicket down

It is amazing you put on the Qld colours and you behave like a Qlder

He played like one too, so far, every single game under this new big bash format has been won by a Sydney team. Coincidence, I think not.

He's just a typical Melbournian commentator. They all have some bias, whether it be to their city, their teams, or AFL.
I dont mind him besides the bias, he seems like a decent bloke.

Anyone else see Ronald McDonald in the lead into to the Melbourne/Adelaide game tonight. He was talking about the greatest opening duo in Aus T20 history in Hodge and Finch. Honestly I think it's one of the weakest combos in the big bash this year. Gayle/Warner, Watson/Haddin (when Haddin is fit) and Hayden/McCullum are all far superior in my opinion. Ponting/Jaques and North/Gibbs are probably on par with them, and they were completely shown up by Harris/Klinger. Typical Victorian self importance, a state who think their bog average cricketers are world class. Hope their teams run 7 and 8 in this tournament.

I think the performance of the Melbourne hype vs Sydney substance was best demonstrated by Stu MacGill and Shane Warne…

Why did their Zimmer frames get in the way :roll

MacGill's zimmer frame couldn't have been too much of a hinderance - he took 2-21 off 4 against your lot!

Fair enough. I do like though in international cricket you can basically turn out for the Dutch one week and Australia the next and nobody seems to care. But if you pull that sort of thing in RL, everyone goes nuts. :crazy

Warne was scared they were going to let fireworks off mid game. If one little spark hits his face it'd melt right off his head.

kind of like in that simpsons episode with the heatwave and all the wax figures at the wax museum melt to the ground. We wouldn't want anything to happen to that plastic face

Probably because the Saffa's have been doing it since the 70's and is as such regarded as the norm. It would seem that changing country allegiances willy-nilly is fairly new in RL by comparison.

20/20 don't count

Sheffield Shield is the only real deal and we are romping it in at the moment

Maybe if 20/20 was like SOO it would be more interesting but would NSW be able to field a team then ??
