Cricinfo says QLD will host the final. If the pitch turns out to be a highway than its obvious that they have doctored the pitch considering how Gabba pitches usually are for the Shield.

They need to change that rule, it's pathetic watching teams in a final play for a draw because it's good enough. I would have them play a final at the minor premiers home ground. If that is a draw they have a rematch at the other team's home ground. If that too is a draw then give the title to the minor premiers, but if either game has a winner then they are premiers. It's not perfect, but it stops teams playing for draws. Alternatively you could play a 6 day final.

The solution is obvious - a timeless final!!! Seriously though a 6 day final still wouldn't stop home teams batting for 3 days - in fact you're more likely to bat for longer - although it may give the visitors a hope of making 1000 and making the home team bat to save the game on Day 6!!

I think the real solution is to make it clear to home associations that any attempts to produce draw pitches will put their allocation of international games in question. You're not going to take a test off Brisbane if we play 5 tests but the final of the ODI comp or a 20/20 might be played elsewhere. You'd soon find that road pitches come to an end then!

Yoss my understanding that if you are correct that the groundsman are mixing the concrete and tar as we speak to roll out a highway

I just hope the batsmen don't cross the double lines when they're running…

A strong bowling attack gives them all the more reason to produce a highway to help the batting out so they can rely on the class bowling to get the most out of the limited conditions. It wasnt too long ago they produced a pitch where QLD got 6/900 odd? Despite having a bowling attack of Bichel, Johnson, Noffke, Watson and Hopes.

If they are going to play for a draw they'll bat until they're rolled no matter how long the game is. Putting the allocation of international fixtures on the line is a good solution, but some of the states have a leg up there (eg Melbourne and Sydney will never lose their respective tests and will always have a decent share of one dayers). It's just one of those things.

Cummins wasnt considered for selection due to injury which is a real shame, still craving for the day when i can watch Cummins and Pattinson open the bowling together. Also the selection of Beer is a joke, he seems like a good bloke but hes an average state bowler at best, surely Steve O'Keefe or Krejza would be a better option for our 2nd spinner. Shaun Marsh deserved to be dropped in my opinion, tbh i was never convinced he deserved to be there in the first place as hes never really set the world on fire in Sheild cricket. If i was selecting the team for the first test it would be:

4\. Ponting
5\. Clarke
6\. M. Hussey
7\. Haddin

I'm enjoying tracking the scores in the World T20 qualifiers. 16 associate and affiliate teams playing for 2 spots at the big table. Namibia has been the big surprise packet so far, beating Ireland and Scotland…

Namibia have played in the 50 over WC so they're not total surprise packets. Afghanistan look a good bet to get through. I see Di Venuto is turning out for Italy without any scepticism or whinging. Seems only RL has to live up to these high standards…

From a Qld point of view hoping Cosgrove isn't able to play He has a hand injury My father suggested last night he probably bit himself having a feed (Found that very amusing at the time )

Good day for your boys but I'd want to see what happens when Qld bat. Jackson Bird has been in sensational form this year. If Tas can get over 250 they'd be reasonably happy.

Well well well Sachin finally achieves his 100th 100\. Who was it against and where? Bangladesh and it was in India of course. I would say he is relieved but really, against Bangladesh? He certainly recieved a helping hand.

It also took him 147 balls for his 114.

I remembered it well, I think it's what made me comment about it :stuck_out_tongue:

I think really Sachin should retire now, he has nothing to gain, it'll be another two years until he plays away from home and by then he'll be 40\. He may as well give it away and move on to a more sedate cricket life.

But then again maybe he plays so much cricket so he can spend most his year in the quiet surroundings away from his home fans.

I am glad he got it so it will stop hindering him. He was in amazing form heading into the world cup last year, then hit a few centuries and got to 99, then suddenly dropped out of form. Now the massive load is off his shoulders he should be able to produce some quality innings again.
