No I don't have anything against Siddle TBH. Just didn't think it was neccessary the way he and the media carried on about his efforts in the Adelaide Test like it was some superhuman feat.

I mean 60 overs of bowling stretched over 5 days is hardly what you would call working in the coal mines. Would be better just to do his job without all the hystrionics and drama.

I admit I do hate it when he always says "wait until the morning of" in every interview he does though.
 
The next concern is Watson in my opinion

We can't continually play him and him get injured every 3-4 Tests Huge risk with the back to back Ashes series coming up

World class player I know , but with our limits we need 11 fit cricketers on the field against the top sides
 
Khawaja must be a moral to get a run surely… Doesn't matter how good he goes though, he'll only get dropped as soon as he is fit.

Considering the bloke is the Vice Captain of the side too…. I don't think its right to allow Watson to walk in and out of the side, although it is due to injury, yet we rest fast bowlers at the drop of a bail.

4/13, if they weren't in all sorts before they well and truly are now.
 
5/80 now, not counting Sangakkara who has retired hurt after copping a Johnson delivery on the hand.

Seems like they're keen to get to Sydney early.
 
Well that was a disaster of a boxing day test. SL should be hugely embarrassed with that performance, even factoring in their injuries. Hopefully they have a bit more heart and pride in Sydney, and at least let us see Day 4.
 
That was a poor effort from Sri Lankia there. Just really poor.

The Aussies were good. Johnson is the very definition of a confidence player. When in form and confident, there are few better.

Lets hope the Sydney test is more of a match.

RIP Tony, a character in the box who keeps you interested even when you don't agree with what he has to say. You never realise how big a part of your life the 9 cricket team become. A sad day for cricket.

RIP Greigy. The game has lost a great character. I was already thinking how the commentary box seems different without him, and unfortunately now it'll never be the same.
 
Makes you wonder how the reaction today would of been with the commentary team if the Test had still been going with what happened with Greigy
 
Should be some touching tributes during the Sydney test. In other news, mike hussey has just announced his retirement unexpectedly. News is just breaking. Bowling depth and quality looks better than in the last 5 years, but Watson, Warner, Cowen etc have to all step up now. I have some concerns about the Aus batting. Clarke can't keep making 100s forever.

Other than khawaja, I don't think any young batsmen are consitently making big scores at shield level.
 
RIP Tony Grieg. A sad day for cricket losing one of its biggest characters. He will be missed.

It's a pity about Mike Hussey retiring. I thought he still had a fair bit to offer the game but he has chosen the family life and well done to him.

Middle order batting I thought was an area where we are very week. Khawaja is a top-order player but next in line so he'll probably get the nod. Rob Quiney and Alex Doolen are top order players too. Watson showed the other day he doesn't score anywhere near as freely against an older ball and fuller field (less slips). Dave Hussey is a bit on in years. Callum Ferguson hasn't done too much of late. Mitch Marsh and Moses Henriques could possibly be options. Joe Burns is one to keep an eye out on. Brad Haddin was talked about as a specialist batsman too.

Huss is going to be a massive loss for the national team. In 2005 had we won the Ashes, he may never have played a test, yet despite debuting at 30, is still one of the best batsman I have seen wear the baggy green. I'd also rate him in the top 5 one day batsman Australia has ever had, right up there with Bevan and Gilchrist. We are really behind the 8 ball for this upcoming Ashes series.
 
In total shock at Mr Cricket's retirement He has been as effective in the last 12 months as Clarkie and is in almost in the best form of his career

My favourite player in the current side and I hope you go out with a win and a century to boot :master:

100%… idk what's wrong with not having a genuine allrounder.

if one of the bowlers break down, it's just bad luck. it happens.
plus with clarke, warner and hussey.. you could get 15-20 overs for a change of pace anyway.

i think this test needs to be about preparing for the future (as much as i hate that term, usually i prefer to win a game at all costs kinda attitude). i would like to see usman khawaja or give another chance to quiney (what the selectors did to quiney was mean to say the least)

wanted to go SCG for this game... but can only make it on a monday... does anyone think this game will last till monday?
