Cricket Season Thread

I've spent all day on the couch watching the cricket, and tbh it's as exciting as watching the WT when they lose their way in attack.

This pitch hasn't played as poorly as I thought it would have. It's still in the balance though. The first two sessions tomorrow will decide how many outcomes are possible on Day 5.

Sri Lankan bowling attack pretty pedestrian, as I'd suspected. I'd be stunned if they took 10 wickets in any innings throughout this series. Christ, they took 11 out of a possible 40 wickets last time they toured here back in 07/08 and their attack then featured Murali and Chaminda Vaas! What chance do these hacks have!

A little bit early to be calling that Cub, still plenty of cricket to be played.

Lol just as I said that, we get bowled out. Albeit as a result of batsmen trying to force the issue.

Clarke retired hurt on 57, thought to be a hamstring problem. In doubt for Boxing Day.

Sri Lanka chasing 393 for victory.

Not overly confident with this total we've set. We have a few injury concerns and the Lankans have a very strong batting line up. If 2-3 of them get going we could be in some trouble.

Don't think SL will get them, but with a couple big partnerships and the Aussies being short of a bowler, never say never

Didn't think South Africa would hold on but they did.

This team of ours lacks the killer blow - it's remarkable how much like the Tigers they are.

This match feels like Adelaide all over again. With the pitch playing slow and low, plus with their two best batsman out their and Mathews who has scored 4th innings runs against us before, I wouldnt be overly surprised if Sri Lanka sneak away with a draw.

What if another bowler breaks down ??Imagine the low bounce will probably ensure a draw , but just remember these blokes own the world record partnership of 624 v the Saffas

If these 2 can get through the first session then the odds would just about be in their favor to pull off a draw. Even if they lose only 1 wicket they'd still be in a good position. Its a a big ''if'' though. If they show the same ticker they showed in the first innings then its game on. A bit of rain would help in eating up some time but i think rain is unlikely

That was a really good tight test match. The Aussies did well to win it. Starc bowled real well in the end.

Khawaja looks to be in for Clarke as they have pulled him out of a 20/20\. Bird is in the squad but Johnson will get the game I think.

Everything Ive heard and read points to PS being 'rested' and that he wouldve given everything to play

I think its pretty damned weak saying "Siddle should be ashamed to call himself an Aussie." without knowing the facts 110%

A lot of things posted on this forum are "pretty damned weak". For instance: certain people who go on incessantly about Sheens and blame him for everything that has turned bad for WT in the last year or so.
It is just an opinion, people are allowed to have 'em. I will stand by my comments re: Siddle

Wow….a broad swipe about Sheens....that sorta covers everything, yet peoples criticism of Sheens was always backed by facts & results or rather the lack of them.

Do you have facts that Siddle declined to play the 3rd test.....chalk and cheese your pathetic comparison...very very weak in fact

Siddle came out yesterday and said HE made the decision to not play in the series-deciding Test in Perth.
Weak as year- old butter

Seems like you have something against Siddle FTB. With the way the Australian bowlers are breaking down, we could ill afford losing a senior bowler like Siddle for a prolonged amount of time. He may have felt he was more useful to the team fully fit rather than playing less than 100% and risking injury and possibly leaving the Australian side weaker for the whole summer. Who knows what his body is capable of better than he?

Maybe cause Siddle doesn't eat meat? It just doesn't seem right.

I like Sidds by the way. A real go getter and wears heart on sleeve.

I blame Pat Howard, a blow in from rugby

x 2 Maybe his concern was letting Australia down by playing and then breaking down during the Test

I reckon with his efforts he deserves the benefit of the doubt
