I just noticed that all the Sheffield Shield games had been abandoned , not just the NSW v SA game

Classy thing for all the states to do , if that is the case ??

That's correct …all matches have been abandoned

I think the discussion in cricket around whether there is or isn't an issue with the bouncer needs to be saved until later, at the moment we all need to be directing positive thoughts and energy towards Hughes. And also towards Sean Abbott who I'm sure is under a fair amount of distress tonight.

I don't think there are an issue with the helmets, he was just very unlucky where he got hit. Media are reporting it hit his head but it was more around his neck.

It makes you think though, I and I'm sure many others here have played plenty of cricket before, and something like that could happen to any of us. Granted we probably aren't facing the pace that Hughes was but there is such a fine line where something can go tragically wrong.

Most fair minded people would agree to leave then argument for another time, sadly your request and Inks will go unnoticed

**Personally I find it sick to take up the agenda at the moment**. Thoughts and prayers should only be with Hughes. Save the argument for another day.

So its sick to think that the cause of what happened is an unnecessary part of the game?

My gf's brother in law got bashed last weekend, almost got himself killed. Is it sick to swear death on those that bashed him, or is that apart of some sick agenda?

Yes it's sick when someone like yourself can't handle people disagreeing with you and then throw pathetic pot shots at people. That's when it becomes sick at a time like this.

I tried to ignore it, you had a few people ask to stop, but u just cant handle someone seeing things differently to you. I will leave it at that cos I don't want to contribute anymore to it.

If you want to read something sick, try reading some of the comments people posted on facebook, making light of it, saying it happened cos he's a rubbish player. But i'm the sick one for questioning the need for these kinds of deliveries. That makes total sense.

What a worrying time for his family …....... can't imagine what they must be going through.
Its his birthday on Sunday too ....... lets hope and pray for a happy outcome.

As much as I am hoping and praying for the guy to pull through, after talking to the appropriate people in the Intensive Care Unit and hearing them talk about Hughes case I was saddened to hear of there opinion which they thought either 2 things could happen 1\. His life support will be turned of and pass away in the event that his prognosis is brain dead. The decision will be made by his immediate Family 2\. He could be a vegetable for the rest of his life. How he's gone into Cardiac arrest is obviously not a good thing and how critical his situation really is. The ventilator is keeping him alive.
This is only an OPINION by Medical professions that deal with Intensive Care and Critical Care Patients which I respect and work with and they have dealt with Cases like these before (Car accidents) etc.
Mind you it doesn't mean he will not pull through but sounds like he needs a Miracle from hearing them talk.
Let's hope he can pull through with at least some quality of life.

After reading some of the post and finding out some people get on social media and say disgusting and de generative things at a time when there is so much heartache around his loved ones…....all the comments I have read on our forum are good natured human feelings toward a family now suffering a sudden tragedy....

It makes you wonder if some people really are part of the human race......

ignore it.. most of them are trolls wanting a reaction.

all sorts of things happen in the world, all different types of people have all different types of opinions on various issues. it's what makes us different. we all have various levels of empathy & understanding in us as well.

it doesnt just apply to this situation but almost every arguement.

Day off tomorrow form work and will be watching the Cricket all Day . Will be a Day of Mixed feelings and a True Test of Character from all Cricket players, Indian players included respecting our Aussie Cricketers .
I have been looking forward to this Test Series for so long but the Phil Hughes passing has really put a dampener on things . I will still be glued to the T.V.
Wouldn't it be a beautiful gesture if the Indian Captain won the Toss and asked Clarke (if he's playing ) "Pup what would you like to do Bat or Bowl"?
I think Batting will allow the Aussie's to ease there way back to Test Cricket after all the emotions of the past week.
But it's a Test Match and your out to win it . Won't happen .

The big deal won't be so much the bouncer itself, the interesting thing will be reactions of players the next time a batsman gets hit in the head. I bet there'll be some hearts in mouths

As for the series itself, the home team is always heavy favourites when these 2 clash, both sides are clueless in the other countries conditions.

Aussies to win 4-0 pending their mental state.

nines coverage of the first test has started. Hopefully the Aussie can switch themselves on into playing mode. Looks like a good crowd building. The Aussie are all wearing black arm bands as are India.

Fantastic tribute and Richie Benaud's wonderful explanation of what Cricket means to Australians. Proud to be Aussie

Yes , Ritchie's a class act that's for sure ! A great tribute to Phil Hughes !
That footage of kids playing cricket in the street is what summer is all about IMO .
Except we didn't have wheelie bins in our day .. We used the old galvanised garbage can !
And when a car came down the street we'd stop the car and tell the driver to "wait " and tell them there's two balls to go this over " lol .
