Yeah bring on da twendy twendy…

Can't wait for round 2 Friday...for those who have the attention span greater than a gnat..

Renshaw averages 63 in Australia.

Let's not pick him and choose a T20 slasher instead.

Test cricket will die if that is how the selectors perceive things.

And you know what will happen for the 3rd Test if we go 2-0 down CB

I just don't get CA , unless we are using the actual pitches from the old WACA , we remove our biggest advantage in Australian cricket

Word is it will be a green top in Perth, so I am not sure that is a good thing or bad thing. Indian quicks were impressive especially Brumah (spelling probably wrong). He would be a real handful with the bounce he gets off a good length. Reminds me a little of Ambrose, easy run up and throws down thunderbolts.
I think at present we are basically have to stick with what we have and hope like hell Smith and Warner will hit the road running for the ashes next year in the UK

I reckon there's a good chance we will never see Warner again. If Hodge managed to burn his bridges by being a cock, then Warner should stand no chance.

You gave Bumrah a bum rap SC

I wonder if we can get Warner to play some games for a County side before we decide whether he plays or not ??

yep, what ever hodge did he must have upset some powerful people.
he was very unlucky not to play more test cricket.
Ask any Victorian, they will tell you.

Would have been a leading batsmen if he was playing for any other nation

Wrong place ,wrong time

So true. Michael Vaughan was commenting during the test that at one stage he thought Australia had the best 1st 11 and 2nd 11.

What’s happened???

Players don't need to aim high to make it now , look at some of the batsmen , quick bowlers and spinners who couldn't get a run in the top side

When a batsmen faces mediocre bowling , a bowler faces batting line ups barely above club level at Shield level they get rude awakenings when they face bowlers of the quality of Ashwin or Dale Steyn

It comes back to building blocks….Grade cricket, state cricket than Australian cricket. A few years ago a young kid playing grade would come against Australian reps in a few grade games, a shield player would play regularly against Australian rep players plus overseas imports.

Now when they are not playing for Australia they are playing in some o/s 20/20 comp. The kids are not learning how to play the long form of the game. Same thing has happened in Rugby and that is why Australia is close to the bottom of the pile

It’s interesting hey. Both cricket and rugby have gone down the elite pathways route. That is, a player is spotted early and moved out of the club system into the elite programs. The old system had all players scrapping at club level until the cream rose to the top after tough contests. Recent results (last few years) would suggest that the elite pathways route is not working too well in both sports.

How does Australian cricket pathways work to make it to the Test Team and then hold your spot. Do you have to perform for your district or state and then get a crack and then stay on top of the game to hold your spot?

You hear about these million dollar contracts players sign, I wonder how many players get contracted and how long the contracts are for and if this takes pressure of players to perform.

Unfortunately I think cricket has gone the way of the NRL.

22 and 23 year olds are not being given a chance to develop and improve. They are tossed aside for the next potential superstar, who usually fail to live up to their hype. In a couple of years they are being tossed aside in favour of the next shiny thing.
