Cricket Season Thread

Cricket grounds are going the same way as golf courses ....technology is making them inadequate

Watching one batsmen hit 17 6's in one innings and 33 6's in one game tells me we need to make the playing arenas bigger

Be interesting to see what players who had retired 5-10 years ago think after using modern bats

Remember seeing Jack Nicklaus only a few years ago saying he hit his driver further now than he did in his prime 40 - 45 years ago

SA could have won that but chocked . Kane Williamson played a top Knock.

SA got lucky even being in the game .......one batsmen slips and is out hit wicket ....another gets an edge on a bad delivery that would've been called a wide if he doesn't feather it

The Saffas lack a Lance Klusener type in their line up at that 7 spot to be a worry and many in their top order are out of form

1. NZ - 11 points played 6 games
2. AUS- 10 points played 6 games
3. IND - 9 points played 5 games
4. ENG - 8 points played 6 games

The top teams start to play each other this week. It will be interesting to see how the semi finals pan out. Id imagine it Won't be too long before India are in top spot .
England have. S.L and the Bangers behind them in 5&6 respectively.

Would be funny if England got knocked out before the knockout stage again.

An English disaster on the sporting field is always a highlight for me especially with their elitist arrogance that precedes all their teams performances

As funny as it would be having someone like Bangers or SL take 4th spot off England. ......I'd prefer to tease them all the way to the last over of the final.
Ideally India (1st) play England (4th) England win go into final.
Aust v NZ in the other semi, we go through to play England

Then it's a repeat the 1999 semi against SA. When they chocked with simple dropped catches and run outs.

I'm am cruel,
Add in Warnie doing his stump dance on a balcony while the presentation is on.
Maybe the last bit should be saved for the Ashes

Actually if they missed the finals because of their own weather that would be very amusing

Afghanistan look like they have a bit of potential. Haven’t won a game, but took India all the way, and scored 200 against the Aussies earlier in the tournament.

Having a look at the rest of the draw....
SL are one win behind ENG
SL's last 3 games are SA, WI and IND, likely 2 wins
ENG last 3 games are AUS, IND, NZ, if they only win one of those games, its a good chance they are out.

Give them time like the Bangers. They've done well this world cup, embarrassed the Saffas and won comprehensively over the Windies and Afghanis, they also scored 330 odd against us and pushed the Kiwi's.

They've only really got done comprehensively against the Poms.

They could have also pushed the Sri Lankans as well if they hadn't got rained out. They deserve to be where they are on the ladder, and great for the game.
