Cricket Season Thread

The Poms are actually down 6-0 in the last 7 tests they played Australia yet they think they are superior .Actually would be 7-0 if 2 days not lost to rain in Sydney . Carey's run out was not a Mankad .He gathered the ball and threw it straight away just as Bairstow tried to do on day 3 .He missed the stumps and Marnus stepped back in anyway .
If he hadn't missed and Marnus had not stepped back in I'm sure they would have appealed and Marnus would be on his way
They have done exactly the same before so they are Hypocrites !!
That won't hurt them but this will -They are inferior cricketers !!!!

I actually just remembered. We were taught to tap the bat twice on the crease before you go out indicating that you've asked permission of the team. Bairstow technically didn't do that but he marked centre again before moving out of crease.

I'll keep this as my last post on this topic now but I truly think Aussies acted against the spirit of cricket in this. I support Mankad and I even support taking runs if a fielder hits you while running you out tbh but this is just wrong and looking at comments outside of Australians, I think I'm in the majority here.

I think it's a little swept under the rug because Indians, Lankans, Pakis etc hate Poms too but if this was done to a guy like Williamson- the media in South Asia would have condemned Aussies.

McCullum, Stokes etc are far from flagbearers of sportsmanship but in this instance in isolation they're right. Just because you did it to an unlikeable and unsportsmanlike player doesn't make it right.
 
Why are the Poms calling the Aussie's cheaters? How is playing according to the rules cheating? At first I thought they were referring to the sandpaper incident.

They might be right in your opinion and that’s fair enough but to me it’s just posturing (on their behalf).

I am genuinely interested in other peoples opinions so thanks for the reply. In the comp I play in the keepers try this all the time. Batters don’t get offended. We just stay in the crease. It’s in the laws. AND we have beers with the opposition all the time. To me, that is what playing in true spirit is.

As an hypothetical, if this happened to Warner, a fair percentage of people here and around the world would be saying sucked in and there wouldn’t be any outrage.

These dickheads keep talking about the “spirit of the game”.
  • After our opener scores a magnificent 140 in the first test, he is told to “f%#k off you f%#king prick” when he is dismissed.
  • When Australia runs down the total in the first test, the English players and coaches say they “felt like they won”.
  • When that dopey bowler is asked about sledging Khawaja he doubles down then starts attacking Ricky Ponting.
  • They claim Australia cheated with a fair catch to Cameron Green
  • Pommy spinner Moeen Ali fined 25% of his match fee for using unauthorised substance on his bowling hand.
  • They claim Australia cheated with a fair catch to Steve Smith
  • Stuart Broad screams at the umpire on three seperate occasions when his appeals are either rejected or overturned.
  • England employ body line during Australia’s second innings with 98% of all balls being short pitched
  • Aussies branded as controversial for getting upset that Starcs catch was given not out when it was 100% a legitimate catch.
  • All the bullshit surrounding the stumping.
  • All the bullshit from the MCC members
  • All the chants of cheating and booing from the crowds
All of these incidents are from this Ashes series so far.
Spirit of the game my arse…these people are bringing the game down with their poor sportsmanship, whining, sulking and hypocrisy.

You have to realise that the Poms suck at sport but they believe they are the best so when they inevitably get their arse kicked the other team must be cheating or the refs are biased against them.It's an entire nation with small dick mentality
 
Don’t agree with the dismissal. I think it’s a cheap shot that stinks of desperation. This is why most other teams hate the Australian cricket team, arrogant! Even when u mancat your meant to give the a warning first, and the batsman are deliberately trying to take an advantage. So with this dismissal at the end of an over it’s a low blow, no advantage was tried to be taken, not batting out of his crease! He should of given him a warning first, then it’s up for grabs. It’s like the underarm bowl, yes it’s in the rules but not in the spirit of the game!!
If the poms did that to us, we’d be blowing up deluxe…
 
The Ashe’s broadcasting partners owe Alex Carey a motza. The ratings will go through the roof for the remaking three test, and given if Australia win or draw the third test the series will be all over as far as the ashes go.
 
You can adjudicate Starc either way IMO. I'm OK that it was given not out because although he had taken the catch clean, he was off balance and I guess you can say that he wasn't in control. For mine if you've taken a catch standing still on the boundary rope and it sends you off balance and you step over the rope, that's probably given as a six. Not fussed either way on Starc's catch.

The Bairstow furore is purely to take the focus off the failure of Bazball to this point. England have bottled two Tests now. The day one declaration in the first Test and the fourth innings top and middle order collapse at Lords cost them dearly.

England have done it a couple of times over the the few years. Nothing was said about cheating or poor sportsmanship. Their coach has even done it. Like I said, the squealing is running cover for losing both Tests.

It’s context though, we’re they batting out of their crease, we’re they trying to get a quick run or at the end of an over. I don’t know the incidents u are referring to but u need context!
