Purely based off the stats that these two have, in particular Connolly it makes no sense why Sam isn't in the team after his 100 against India. Admittedly the only List A game he'd played before that he scored 10 so perhaps the selectors were waiting for more performances but then it wouldn't make sense in picking Connolly or JFM. These guys need to be dropped ASAP.

It's pretty evident the selectors are making some poor decisions around the ODI team after our Pakistan and Sri Lanka losses and there is far more emphasis on T20 than ODI by the players and Cricket Australia.

The selection last are baffling and then I hear the media saying what great decisions they made???

I really like your homework with the stats
My method is mainly gutfeel but that told me Konstas has exceptional
Hand Eye ball coordination
 
2nd ODI
our pace battery is as weak as I can remember
Hardie , Abbott , Dwarshuis that's it !
Far cry from the Starc ,Cummins ,Hazelwood we won the World Cup with
Our Spin line up
Zampa ,Head , Maxwell , Sangha
 
Admit Hardie and Dwarshuis bowling tight but when I hear commentators saying they like selections based on BBL form that's a worry
50 overs is a different game .Need to bowl 10 overs well not 4
If I had to accept the big 3 quicks unavailable and therefore who are our next best .I would consider Neser , Bartlett and Meredith and Head and Konstas to open and Smith no 3
 
Our Spin so ordinary
Pace 11 overs 1-31
Spin 11 overs 0-73
If we think this spin attack will do the job in Pakistan we are kidding ourselves
 
Our selectors have some thinking to do
All 4 spin bowlers ineffective
No wickets and going for plenty
Especially Sangha and Short
Even Zampa no impact
Problem now Smith having to get 10 overs out of his 3 seamers
Hardie used to bowling 4 overs getting very ragged
Point is on a super dry wicket full of cracks our 4 spinners don't even look like getting a wicket
Our Pace attack not fit for 10 overs except maybe Abbott
Whole thing has backfired on the selectors
 
Maxwell must be carrying some injury
I've counted 4 or 5 times where he could have dived to stop a boundary but didn't!
 
A few chickens are coming home to roost in this game,win or lose you need to pick the right players to do the job.T20 does very little to enhance a players ability it only perpetuates bad habits
 
Please stop picking an ODI side based on who bowled a good 4 overs in the big bash and who hit a few 6's in the big bash
They are totally different games but I'm starting to wonder how unintelligent our selectors are
BBL form is a zero indicator of ODI form
( except maybe Abbott )
Also our spin attack USELESS !
 
This squad is obviously not a patch on the squad that won the World Cup

Apart from the obvious bowling shortfall
Our fielding in the semi and final of the world cup was fa tactic
Today it was very poor
 
No way another poor performance from Matt Short for like the 10th game in a row. When will the selectors realize 🙄.
Anyway don’t worry that we have already lost a wicket and a review we have Jake Fraser McGurk to the rescue!!!!!
 
What im dreading is game 1 of the Champions Trophy is against England
Based on this rag tag reserve grade side I dread the hiding the Poms might give us .
Capt Pat I hope you all are enjoying some more quality family time because this side made up of a few ODI stars and BBL stars are going to lose
Thank God the NRL on soon .I will switch modes till the WTC
By the way Hardie another BBL star out for a duck

Outplayed in all departments.
Some major soul searching on the plane to Pakistani.
