That was legal.

That incident was mainly just dumb
Virtual no impact on result
It was a 50 over match and the NZ no 11 batter needed to hit a 6 at the MCG
off the last ball of the match and if he did the match would be tied not won
In those days there were no ropes and would have needed to clear the fence in what was the largest ground in world cricket .
The odds of this about 1000/1
A few months later I bumped into Greg Chappell at the Cauldron and over a beer asked him why he gave the instruction to his brother Trevor
Embarrassed he said it was a spur of the moment " brain explosion "
As any normal full ball would have got the same result .
You are right at the time the underarm ball was not illegal
I would back my detailed knowledge of cricket history over that possessed by the Jedi anytime ! Who sounds desperate to claim the " moral high ground "
As it makes him feel that England are losing only because of an immoral
Aussie team and are unfairly leading the series 2-0

Yeah he’s not usually delusional @Jedi_Tiger throughout the rest of the forum. It’s just this cricket thread and going for a team that gets flogged playing its own game.
It’s a tough game test match cricket when you’re getting flogged for 3-4 days. I remember it happening to us once in the early 80’s.

Yeah he’s not usually delusional @Jedi_Tiger throughout the rest of the forum. It’s just this cricket thread and going for a team that gets flogged playing its own game.
