Cricket Season Thread

You should wrap it up and put a bow on it, the TAB love monetary gifts.
Plan is aussies beat kiwis thursday in RLWC then use some of that to back South Africa
lol
if i can get $2.40 South Africa I'd be pretty keen
a couple of freakish performances by the aussies and winning the coin toss is so important too not batting last helps

Another fourth innings where Lyon's bowling is docile and non-threatening to batters. Fifth best spinner in the team behind Renshaw, Head, Webster, and Maddinson.

I like Oliver Peake. I think he's a big chance to be a top liner. Oliver Davies has shown promise and hit a 250 to start the season. Cooper Connolly is obviously one to watch.
Yeah both Olivers seem to be tracking ok, one can bowl a I think. I’d have to have a google which ones which again. Really hoping Cooper gets a run soon or maybe they should get him back for the next shield round. He was supposed to replace Green, picked in front of Maddo but injured or flu actually I think. So if he’s fit after this Test maybe Cooper comes straight back into the middle and Renshaw opens. But if Renshaw opens and doesn’t score runs then we’ll have fun picking the next side.
Interesting times ahead for a young gun who wants to bat at test level there’s positions to fill with young blood from top down.

I think they both bowl a bit. Davies opened in round one which was interesting because I seem to recall him batting in the middle order last season.

Renshaw hopefully is in for a while. He's probably been unfortunate to wait so long to get back in.

Weibgen 21yo opener from toadsland just scored his second ton this season.

Ollie Davies has looked like a good cricketer for years but seldom delivers. His big innings the other day was on a pitch that was as flat as Botany Bay on a still day. Connolly and Peake look to have what it takes.

Great to win away against a super competitive team. Renshaw was basically the difference, he had one of those tests that seldom comes along if ever. Lyons although bowled with control failed to make in roads on a fifth day deck. Openers and no3 are still a massive issue and Radaba will make the going tougher in the next test. As always our quicks were good

We have one traditional top order batsmen in the whole squad in Marnus. I think the selectors have just decided to use two limited overs style openers in the hope they can score quick runs and wear the ball down so the middle/lower order gets the best of conditions.
