Wests Tigers Head Coach Tim Sheens says the criticism levelled at his side’s performances in recent weeks has been justified.
The game’s most experienced coach said his players were working very hard to end their four match losing streak ahead of the Good Friday clash against Brisbane Broncos at Allianz Stadium.
“We have been through these periods before as every side has,’’ Sheens said.
“The issue is to keep working hard and come through it. Worrying about it or sooking about it is not going to solve it. It is hard work.”
Sheens said supporters were entitled to judge the team on their performances at the end of the season.
“In ’05 when we won the grand final, we were running 14th halfway through the year. It is always about the end of the season,’’ he said.
“We will continue to work hard and see where things go. No one is not trying.
“We have had a few issues with injury and suspensions as some teams have. Other teams have had a dream run. What comes around goes around you like to think.”
Sheens said he had been impressed with Brisbane’s start to the season. The Broncos sit third on the Telstra Premiership ladder after four wins from five rounds.
“They have been good. Everyone thought they would have a problem after Darren (Lockyer) retiring but the young halves have stepped up and they are playing very well,’’ Sheens said.
“Even with (Jharal) Yow Yeh’s injury, they have recovered from that and are one of the sides to beat this year. Everyone said that but there was still that issue of whether or not they could handle it without Darren and so far they have.”
The Broncos have won 14 of the 19 clashes between the two clubs since 2000\. Wests Tigers last win against Brisbane came in 2010 at Suncorp Stadium.
