Noffa lead us out being his 100th. Why not just give the role to him, who cares. He’s one of the few who really show passion for the jersey anyway.
I will back Cleary, he has done a lot for this club, this time last year we were sitting ducks. At least we have the slimmest look in. This was always going to be a rebuilding year for us.
The only issue I have with this team is how we manage to fold the easiest of games. This was a winner for us & we made even the Morris twins look like world beaters tonight. Did the boys slack off this week thinking they were champions?

What a supremely boring and predictable thread. Good news is coach is in place for 2019 so we can concentrate on something else rather than whinging about it.
I find the comments funny, along the lines of "every year I get sucked into believing in this club" - fool me twice, they say?
We are a battler club. If you want that to change, great, me too, you don't get dynasties swapping out the coach every 2 seasons.

We were wooden spoon favourites at the start of the year! It’s certainly disappointing to miss the top 8 AGAIN, but we’ve done better this year than the majority of fans predicted. Our squad does not stack up well compared to most other sides. If you want to criticize Cleary for that, go ahead. But the culture is changing - improved defence, no over paid “superstars”, bringing back Benji/Farah not just for the sake of it, but to actually contribute (Benji was hopeless tonight).
Comparing Cleary to Taylor is insane. When Taylor was sacked, the majority of the rugby league community had little respect for him as a head coach - fans, media, players etc. Cleary on the other hand is well respected in the game for his success with the Warriors and Panthers. He can attract talent and retain more players than Taylor ever would have been able to.

The way we played the first 8 weeks justified that opinion. If we could play like that early, why couldn’t we maintain it? That’s what has made this season so hard to swallow. Had we just had a year like Parra or the Dogs, I’d put my hand up and say “okay, maybe I was wrong. We aren’t the team I thought we were going to be”. But the fact we got off to such a great start, combine that with the last 2 weeks and Mbye and Farah added to the mix, expectations (at least mine) have been raised.

I thought we'd finish 10th, looks about right.
I don't think it's been a successful year. Cleary had the freedom to make major changes to the squad but they've fired only a few times.
Taylor was no good as a coach but he was never able to get his own team. He still got them to 9th, missing out on the finals through a Hayne field goal 2nd last game.
I was hoping for better this year. Now I can only hope for it next year.

His biggest test will be recruiting quality for next year. Recruitment for this year was ok considering the mess we were in but another round of just ok signings won't be enough.
9 game contracts aren't the answer either.
