Culture change

Can it come from within? I dont think it can anymore.

The idea of bringing players through and growing our own really appealed to me, but i now realise this breeds mentally weak spoilt brats who dont get what it takes.

Its now time we bring the culture in through guys who have experienced it elsewhere. And guys who have something to prove. Guys who are hungry and can lead. Guys who are professional.

Luke Lewis, while old and battered should be first target. He doesnt drink, he leads by example and is playing as well as ever. We need one year from him to help with our process of our transformation.

McQueen can play a good 80 minutes on an edge and isn't out of our price range. We need to sort our interchange out by having a good 80 minute backrower.

Evans is a young, big hungry forward who sets a great example off the field. Qaulity young guy with plenty of upside. Trains extras consistently, something i doubt any of our guys do.

Whare is the professional defender we need outwide. Ive wanted him for years and now we must get him.

I would also take on Todd Carney. I think he could flourish for less money than what Brooks wants. He's an origin half. Take the risk. Show some balls.

x 2

We need some tough, seasoned performers to bolster our pack & 1 experienced half (Maloney/Foran/Widdop/Cronk, etc). Should've blown the storm away in that 1st 40.

Tigers have been a club that has paid up for potential for so many years now.

Its ingrained in our culture. We accept mediocrity.

I reckon ou pre seasons and our training is softer and easier then every other club in the game.

Yous ee t when the going gets tough.

I think we need to really throw it all out and start again.

We prepared to lose 2 of the "big 4" and try and bring in some hard ass NRL Players and a captain from the outside.

I agree with most of this but Todd Carney would only cause too many unwanted distractions.

Not sure you can mention Todd Carney and positive culture change in the same sentence, but I like the idea. I've got plenty of time for Evans, but we have to give Whare Tim Sim's money with a cushion from Broses, give Tagataese the old JT straight-in-the-17 promise, and beg Nathan Brown to come back, straight swap for Lovett.
I'm not sure I'd take Lewis, but I wouldn't say no to Ryan Hoffman (but wouldn't be surprised if he ends back at Melbourne). We're a professional rugby league team, let's bring in some professionals and get serious about turning this joint around.

It's much much more than just players… It starts at the top and must filter all the way down throughout the entire organisation

Gee tough crowd here…..we were a whisker of beating one of the competetion heavyweights and peeps want heads to roll.....

I reckon the players showed real ticker and resolve and deserve praise for there efforts in stifling conditions. I was on the hill and it was stinking hot.

A few plastic cups of warm beer certainly doesn't cool you down.
We aren't a 80 minute team regardless of the heat. We barely have a half in us under any conditions.

Dunno where you were, but i was drinking ice cold beers out of cans on the hill.

Still reckon that yesterday was a vast improvement and with a bit of luck we win that game…...i can go to work today proud that they had a go.i dont expect to cop shite off the workmates either.

i went with a few blokes who had never been to LO,they arent tiger fans and they loved the day and thought we played pretty well......and enjoyed the cold beers too.

Look do we just drop off all 4 and start from scratch. Surely if Tedesco or Woods want to play finals footy before they turn 30 will bite the bullet and leave.
The only problem would be who would want to come here to this shambles. Hopefully with whoever coach we get they bring some talent with he/her respectively lol

Mediocrity starts in the front office, and over the years we have had plenty of front office staff trying to run the football operations.

Its a great ideal to bring Juniors through, but its not practical in todays NRL to let this be your whole philosophy. Results are demanded in the NOW, and not in 3 years like the old adage was. Sponsors, Players & Fans demand it, so why isnt the front office?

Outside of Aaron Woods & James Tedesco, no one should be safe at the Tigers. If you dont perform and reach your targets, you wont keep your job in many workplaces!

It all starts with Cleary.
We have to get him in now so he can start getting his roster in order before there is no descent players left on the market or next year will be a waste as well.
