Mediation with Melbourne Rebels …. Arbitration with Western Force .... where are our lawyer buddies. Which is worse ...

Arbitration is "worse" as they can make binding orders. In mediation they can only annoy you into agreeing.

Meanwhile the Force are re-signing players

So realistically the ARU and most likely super rugby want the rebels out but the ownership situation makes it difficult and they are hoping to squeeze them out. If they can't force are gone

Loving watching that rubbish sport stretch this out as long as possible.
Rugby is dead in Australia  Yawnion is in such a hole even halving the price of Cucumber sandwiches and pimms wouldn't draw in the "fans"
Where's that "Warchest"?

THE Western Force have continued their signing frenzy, but the future of the Melbourne Rebels appears increasingly bleak as the franchise’s best players prepare to jump ship.

Winger Chance Peni became the latest star to re-sign with the Force on Wednesday, joining the likes of Wallabies newcomer Richard Hardwick and veteran prop Ben Daley as other players to have put pen to paper over the past week.

It’s understood the Force have another six players who will re-sign soon, while stars such as Dane Haylett-Petty, Billy Meakes, Ben McCalman, Curtis Rona, and Pek Cowan already have existing contracts for next season.

In contrast, the Rebels are battling to keep the core of their squad together.

"THE Western Force have continued their signing frenzy, but the future of the **Melbourne Rebels appears increasingly bleak as the franchise’s best players prepare to jump ship**." Any decent players on offer there?

That's a shame if true, was quite excited about Rona. We haven't had a good winger in first grade for an extended period in ages.

Both teams (Rebels and Force) are still recruiting, Melbourne Rebels have the more $$ (privately owned ?) and sponsorship where as the Western Force not as much. Doesn't matter if Rona has contract with the The Force for next season, if they fold .. no contract .. !! Let's keep our hopes up.

I would make offers to both Rona and Koro either team has to but the dust. I'd then pray Melbourne Rebels fold.

The Force still recruiting is probably a last ditch attempt to save themselves, if they get booted doesn't the ARU cover the existing contracts until they find other employment or any difference in contact moving forward?

Rebels signed British Lions lock Geoff Parling on 07/Jun/17, sevens player Henry Hutchison on 11/Jun/17, sounds like boths teams are still moving ahead under the assumption the other will get the chop.
