Curtis Sironen released [Official p.40]

He obviously has some issues in his game that need attention, however this is not exactly the worst news from the club. From all reports he is not on massive money so the club have 2.5 years to fix him up at a reasonable cost. Regardless, even now he is a reasonable second stringer and _can_ play NRL if required.

Imagine the uproar if he left this season, another club developed him in 2017 and he was Dally M second rower of the year in 2018….

Wake up! - take your JT haters cap off.

This has nothing to do with JT.

He didn't sign him, he didn't give him the option (wasn't even at the club for both these things).

He is also not the head of football responsible for signings and retention - that is O'Neill who also was not at the club for these two things.

Hate him for what he does - not what you think he is responsible for.

Oh! right JT is also to blame for all the rain damage over the weekend.

I agree. i am far from a fan of his and he has been selected at times when he shouldnt have been.however he is depth in a position where we are not strong. If Robbie leaves at the end of the year as seems likely then we will have decent money to get a better player and to let siro develop in reggies

Thanks Mayer, your legacy continues.Obviously Siro had no other avenue but to take up his option suggesting other clubs knew better and were not interested.
He now has two more seasons to show the club he is a fg footballer or he can use that time to find a real job because atm he is not a footballer and most likely will never be.

What sort of clubs give 2 yr options, 1 yr i could probably cop but 2 defies logic but our club often defies logic i shouldnt be surprised…..

It was a 1 year option. He was already contracted for 2017 and then had an additional year in his favour, which he has taken up (wisely for reasons others have already mentioned).

Even 1 year options are a terrible idea for a club. It's never good to hand over control of any part of your roster like that.

Maybe some time in the lower grade will make him toughen up and come good,…..... then he can return to first grade as 5/8 when Benji 2(Moses) moves on next year, haha

This was unexpected given the rumours floating about in here.

That said, rumours. Kind of says it all really.

Sironen needs to work on his effectiveness in both attack & defence. And stop giving away penalties.

But the talent is there. And I'm seeing the core group of this team wanting to stick around. That also flies in the face of any other type of rumour that involves a rift between players & the coach..

By taking up his option only strengthens his bargaining position if he goes to the club and asks for a release to another club in the future. The club doesn't want to be paying NRL money to a reserve grader for a few years. I guess if we do not get a new coach or if Siro fails to make the grade in the near future there will be some horse trading going on

This OR the players that are staying are not attracting decent offers from other clubs.

I'm not a JT apologist and in fact will be glad to see the back of him - however I am sick of this constant JT bashing and blame for everything that is wrong about this club. Grow up and live with the fact he is here until the end of this season. I gave you a neg rating - I would have given it to anyone of the other repetitive JT bashers but yours was the first post I read.

A typical WT signing. Another year or two of this Plodder whilst JAC is let go to Storm.

2005 feels so long ago.

Wests Tigers are responsible for whats become of him. They butchered his development. It's Bronson Harrison all over again

This is a big call. Bronson also got plenty of chances elsewhere.

He is still young and maybe he just needs some more time or maybe he isn't up to it.
