Curtis Sironen released [Official p.40]

There's always something happening behind closed doors

There is drama surrounding Curtis Sironen's decision to leave Wests Tigers for Manly.

Privately, Sironen feels he was pushed out of the club - albeit he was officially released - and treated poorly.

Even Wests Tigers team-mates were filthy at how Sironen was treated.

Sironen, to his credit, bit his lip and refused to have a departing shot at Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor.

Saint Siro..

I don't get these players - if you aren't in the plans, or you aren't good enough, or you don't put in, you get dropped. I have no problem with that, you don't cultivate a great side by being lenient on borderline players.

If being dropped to reggies and told you aren't high in the pecking order is "pushing out", then so be it, happens all the time. Blokes like Siro, Akauola seem to think they deserve more than the other randoms who don't end up making it.

Good luck to Curtis if he takes the move to Manly. The performance of both he and Robbie will give us a benchmark to measure against. Should be interesting.

It will indeed

**Just wait for the old "its so much more professional" line from both Robbie and Curtis in the pre-season**.

For sure… any day now.

We won't be seeing just how successful this move is for some time yet. He may start with a bang, but fade later when the pressure is off. Or he may start slowly but build as he works his way into their 'style'.

FWIW, I think Sirro's entire training regime needs to be re-built as well as a change in playing role. Every time I've seen him play he gets gassed after a very short period of time, and then struggles to do anything really good in attack and often just can't get into position properly in defence.

If Barrett's team are good enough to break this down and re-build it so it suits him better in order to get more energy into the young fella, that 'potential' we always wanted to see may just be released. Will be interesting.

I wish him all the best. i honestly thought he was going to be a regular FG player, but for what every reason it didn't work out.

I thought this year was going to be a breakout year for him and if it is well its going to be at Manly.

Lets see if this has an impact on his brother.

There we go a few positives after so many people putting the boot in.

Siro is one of those blokes who could really make a proper career of this, or just gradually slip off into anonymity. It's really up to him how it turns out because he has the basic skills and size I think.

But I can't say bad words against the bloke, he doesn't seem like a bad guy or to be totally wasting his amazing God-given talent. Maybe he really just doesn't have what it takes.

I'm glad he left as this will give the kid a much needed wake up call.

He wasn't the right fit here anymore, he has huge talent & ability which if used could become a very good NRL player.

Wish him all the best and hope he does well.

Can't blame him for complaining - Willow's comment was unnecessary and out of character.

Fyi…He has the "power" to permanently ban you on his sole discretion on anything you say...

Your previous banning alexaki was warranted, and you're only here right now because you're following the rules. Stick to the topic please.

He bit his lip and refused to have a parting shot… But we got wind of the story and will push the barrow for him anyway.

It will be a while before he turns out in a Manly jersey, you don't get over a heart transplant in 5 minutes, if only he had the heart of Liam Fulton

x2

Sironen developed into another BMM, great hope and potential, but disappointing effort and performance 😢

 Apologies due,Willow.
I thought you were being overly harsh on a first time ever poster and said so - seems there is a background story.

Back to Siro. Iam not convinced he has the right skills to make it as a quality NRL player. He lacks power, speed and the motor for the back row and I am not sure he has the mental toughness to make it as a front rower. The good thing by going to Manly he will have a real chance to prove me many others wrong. I hope he makes the next step, but I get the feeling he might fade off the scene in a few years time

This sums it up well super…I was hopeful he would develop into an excellent ball playing backrower for us, but it just hasn't materialised. It's not like he's small either, the bloke is almost 6'5 and 110kg, plenty big enough but lacks that hunger and urgency you need out on the field. If he had a high workrate and could churn out 12-13 hitups per game like the top backrowers then I'd be stoked, and I'm sure we'd have a winner on our hands, but alas it wasn't to be.

At the beginning of last season I stated that he'd develop into a top shelf second rower. And he still may - there are still plenty of 'experts' out there who still see him as a potential rep player.
There can be little doubt he needs a major attitude adjustment if he is to make it even as a regular first grader.
Perhaps the 'sons of legends' need to move away to have any chance (e.g. Pearce jnr).
Anyway, I wish him well at the Sea Eagles.

Wish him well at Manly…what the hell is wrong with you people...I wish he is in the 1st Manly team to win the spoon...

He has a decent build, that if used effectively / correctly, would cause major trouble for opposing teams. :brick:
I'm guessing he does not realise this. :unamused:
