All sorts of stuff happening in corrections....all external visits and leave programs cancelled....5 day court locations shut down and officers redeployed to other centres. A lot of casual staff will be without work, just like private sector. prison sentences will also be looked at differently in regards to locking people up or not......
so far one officer has allegedly contracted the virus...another 2 are getting tested.......
Some worrying infection numbers coming out of at least one prison in New York state and shows why things were shut down here as you posted a while back. How long ago now was that?
very recently
but more staff are getting tested out of metro centres....if it gets in here there will be all sorts of stuff hitting the fan. Problem is for those of us who work here that it's not a priority compared to other situations out there. We still have to come to work and while our management are doing their best with what they have, it's punitive at best. Once an inmate gets it, all sorts of different contingencies have to come into play apart from simple lock downs.
Is there any talk of releasing lower level offenders? I'm think at around the level of people in for drink driving offenses.
