Daine Laurie #237

Was just told yesterday Dillon has resigned with us on some type of nrl deal, after knocking back 2 other Sydney clubs and Cowboys don’t know full details of the deal but was also told scolari, rua ngaturia, Stevanovic, and one other flegg player will be given 6 weeks preseason pre Xmas with nrl. Some sg ball players will also be give 6 week nrl pre season , pre Xmas, asked about Ogden, was told it’s ongoing.

Thanks, legend.

Team should be built on loyalty.
The players in the trenches, everyone getting the backs of the person next to them.
Trust.

Tamou and Daine... how anyone can defend this is beyond belief.

They're representatives of OUR club yet their behaviour is that they're directly representing another club, an opposition club.

I'm not with it and never will be.
Disgraceful.

This is exactly what Gould was saying a few weeks back...and the reason we are a souless club...we don't have players who are WT players....Dane is a bad show

I think those of you who are upset at this need to put yourself in Daine's shoes. He grew up out there, and is good mates with many of the team. Of course he's going to be celebrating that they won. Putting the jersey on is not the smartest thing to do - but it doesn't deserve the vehement foaming at the mouth some of you are doing. Grow up.

No he didn't.

He grew up at Yamba and Iluka.
He spent around 3 years in the Panthers system.

Inexcusable by both Laurie and Tamou.
Cannot justify such disrespect to the club and us as fans.

Any support shown to these actions and behaviour is mind boggling.

He isn't Penrith through and through, born and bread... isn't Yamba closer to GC than Mt Druitt.

Yep. I've had a gut full of people making excuses and pandering around these players. Grow some balls WTs management and do something about this behaviour from "our" players. No wondering our culture sucks. Do u think Momo or the huth would be wearing our colours and making public statement if we won a GF?

He also needs to put himself in our shoes.

My thoughts are that when you tell people to "grow up" when they are giving their opinions on an internet forum, that you would want to be pretty sure of your facts otherwise you can look like an arrogant goose.

Daine Laurie "grew up" in Iluka. He didnt go to Penrith until 2017.

Legend, Sly. Thanks for the good news

For some perspective that's closer to Brisbane than Penrith. Nice spot.

Joining the dolphins?

Yes my mistake - he didn't grow up there.

Doesn't change my mind that many of you are over-reacting massively and need to get some perspective.

FWIW, I dont blame him for celebrating and being happy that his mates won and were successful, but its incredibly disrespectful to publicly flaunt the jersy like that. More than that, its the unprofessionalism that worries me. This kid gets paid hundreds of thousands to represent WT and that doesnt register.

I get what many have said here that this is symptom of the lack of culture and respect in the club and thats hard to argue against, but for me more worrying is the lack of professionalism and understanding of what it means to be a professional footballer. IMO this is more likely a bigger impact on our performances. Add Tamou to that.

No one player is bigger than the club. Lauries and Tamou's behaviour is inexusable.

Watershed moment for our club. We either stand for something or we just roll over and continue to be an also ran.

Both need to disciplined at the very least

This is up there with Aaron Woods and his dog act

Why is this the watershed moment for the club? Jesus Christ.

It's not us losing to the dogs 38-0?
Not Brooks continuing to do nothing all season?
Not Ivan dogging us?
Not losing the big four?

Get some perspective.

I've pretty clearly expressed my disappointment in DL actions here, but IMO publicly flogging him is the wrong thing. Club should have a strong word to him in private make it clear why its wrong, but IMO hanging him out in public is unlikely to create further harmony and respect between the players and the club.

Can see why people consider it in poor taste, however not sure why it's seen as poor representation by one of our players.
I've seen Woodsy wear his Tigers undies every game whilst playing for Bulldogs and Sharks, representing those teams/clubs.

And you could use a little perspective and understanding of team culture

This 1000%

Born in Penrith. Who cares really. It’s the off-season. Are they supposed to be focusing on the tigers 365 days of the year?

My concern is that the club will do diddly squat about it, in fear of upsetting the player in question. I really hope Madge pulls him aside and tears him a new one. As for Tamou, he can get the hell out and rot at the foot of the mountains, running the water for his beloved panthers. If Tamou was a true leader, he would have pulled Dane aside and been abit more tactful in how they celebrated the Panthers win.
