Daine Laurie #237

I would be getting him an upgraded contract right about now. This kid is awesome. So brave. Love me some Daine. Actually, I think if I have another son, I might just call him Daine Laurie.

Dane’s a great name

Just something in passing:

I noticed Daine raised his hands to his head immediately after he scored his try on Friday night, as a post try celebration.
And I had read previously that Latrell Mitchell does it in the manner of kangaroo ears.
Is that whay Daine was doing?
And, why is this celebration now so common/

You're getting mixed up with his try against St. George which was in Indigenous Round.

Latrell does it inspired by the Inglis goanna (kangaroos and goanna's both mainly Indigenous Australian animals).

Laurie was following suit cause it was Indigenous Round.

Oh thanks champion @KingRobbie - obvious now you've explained it.

I wish we had a team of Daine Lauries. No he's not the messiah, but he has serious talent and more importantly GUTS and character.

I can forgive any mistake he might make because he actually tries and always puts his body on the line. Still filthy at some of his teammates who literally stood still and watched while Bunnies strolled past to score, without even bothering to make an effort. How can they look someone like Laurie in the eye?

Absolutely love him and my respect for him grew furthermore.
I thought he was the only player switched on from start to finish. His effort reminds me so much of Hodgo or even Corey Thompson.
He's all heart and no matter what sort of game he's having(or the team for that matter), he never drops his head.

he's gone after his contract. didn't even celebrate his try.

Next on the list of players we let go

The club need to get guys like him and AD in a room and understand their needs. They are the future, listen to them.

spot on. many many years of mediocrity recruiting mediocrity up front. get rid of the recruiters, they have no idea.

I wonder if he topped the tackle count

Surely the frontline defense top tackler tallied no more than 5

100%. The try saver on Johnston was a banger and multiple times he took the dirty carries when team was pinned in their own 20m while lazy forwards were still trying to get back behind the ball. The kid has heart which too many in the team clearly have none.
