Daine Laurie #237

Another excellent signing and congrats to all involved..

Very smart move but I don't think he will start round 1 in front of Mybe unfortunately.

I think the coaches will give him a few weeks to settle into our style in reserve grade to go from there.

Judging by the reaction I hope everyone remembers he is only young in a key position so he will make mistakes and maybe lose games for us but will grow into it in time.. Very happy to have him on board

With Doueihi out round 1, he might start

Very interesting to see where this leaves Mbye though if DL grabs the fullback spot. Bench utility role for Moses in all likelihood, he will be handy for subbing on at dummy-half when Liddle needs a breather. Until Simpkin is ready/available for 1st grade.
Mbye will more than likely see a fair bit of gametime in the centres throughout the year, as much as I am hoping like hell BJ and JTJ have an absolute standout season, the odds are more likely that either or both will have form lapses at some point going by season's past.

True could happen if he impresses over the next month.

I think Madden will replace AD and Mybe will stay at 1..

It really wouldn’t surprise me if Mbye didn’t see out the year with WT, let alone his contract. Its inevitable he will end up on the bench which will be a real ego hit. Doubt he is a very happy chap after today’s swap with Penrith.

Football department really getting recruitment and retention right imo. Working to a plan and assembling a good roster. Very excited about the season ahead!

Mybe has never owned a spot in any side he has played for. Competition for spots is a good thing for the whole squad and Mybe can cover more positions than most.

Sounds like good news.

But, completely unproven.... really hope he meets the expectations.

Sad to see Momo go, will be very good once he cements a centre spot.

Just remember there also fast tracking the new Brisbane team for 2023, he will look at signing there when his current contract expires in 2022 as is from Noosa.

In the meantime a good experienced utility player for this season able to cover a few positions.

DL this is a good signing from all the positive reviews but does anyone have a highlights reel?

Good to see no blood lost between our clubs

Well... notice he didn't include "Tigers" in that quote.

Penrith will have a tonne of expectation on them this year. Teams have had a whole off season to do their homework on them. They will likely have another good year but it won't be the cakewalk they had last year.

Melbourne figured them out already lol cam Smith talked about it in a podcast. Penrith are all about possession and field position take that away from them and they struggle, their try scoring rate close to the line isn't that good they just camp themselves down there all game long

Rd 1 might be
1. Mmbye
6 D Laurie
if they kill it AD may not get in

This is awesome stuff. I'm just having a word with my nephew now. Go talk to Stephen Crichton and egg him on to sign with WT for 2022. 😂

Season changing IMO...

He gives us speed and skill at 1 and 6...both spots needed depth and Laurie ensures pressure for spots.

Legit X factor at 1-6-14.

A major plus...he may well be our best strike player all season.

Tend to think Pamfers may struggle a little this year particularly with the players they have lost and some they have picked up Eiso Jennings and Momo solid players and will be interesting how they fit in.

Isn’t Laurie a cousin of Jimmy the Jet? Maybe I heard that wrong ?

He is a relative of Cody Walker.

That's nothing to brag about Lol.

Welcome aboard Daine. Another piece of good business for us, strengthening a position of need. Sad in a way to see Momo go but I see the value in the transaction for us.
Well done WT!
