Daley Blues coach 2025

Lets be honest, when Daleys appointment was announced as coach NSW shoulders slumped and Qlders were overjoyed. There was nothing in Daleys past history to suggest he was the man for the job.

He has only reinforced what many feel by claiming in last nights press conference the Blues are "building"..................fair dinkum, the defending champions were building. Resign Loz, coaching aint for you.
We were building. They foundations were laid last year and they have now been demolished.

I would need an insider to figure that mess out. Wouldn't touch that with a barge pole! Might be able to do something on who should be the next NSW coach.
I have a mate on the inside who can help with this, he never came back from a mushroom bender, he now has life membership at the Sydney asylum. He will know all the NRL Big Knobs.

Whats wrong with a club coach? I get it, theres a lot of work to do, but hire some good assistants and let them do a lot of the work pre Origin then you've won half the battle. Like Gus said regarding the Aussie job, the best coaches are coaching already.

Qld have a future immortal who can dedicate his whole year to 3 games.

Why wasn't Bellamy in the box
Coz most “ consultants” stay away from the front line, and influence ( or otherwise) from afar. Plus there are a few key Storm players in the Maroons( notice I didn’t mention Stef)and he probably didn’t want to alienate them in anyway.

Bellamy was in charge of the interchanges

"NSW played faster in the second half thanks to valuable substitutions in Connor Watson and Hudson Young. Storm coach Craig Bellamy handled the substitutions all series and when those players came on they made a difference."

I don't know if I missed something but watching State of Origin last night at half time in the Blues dressing room, all I could see was Matt King addressing the players.

Don't know what Laurie Daley was doing.

Laurie Daley slammed for ‘diabolical’ coaching as Blues capitulate in Origin loss

NSW Blues have been branded a ‘complete and utter rabble’ after blowing a half-time lead in a humiliating 44-24 Origin II defeat, with Laurie Daley’s coaching savaged.

In the ugly fallout from NSW’s horrendous Origin II defeat, the Blues - and coach Laurie Daley - have been picked apart in vicious fashion.
Daley’s coaching reputation is at an all-time low, and the Blues are facing mass changes after the humiliating 44-24 capitulation.

Breaking down Queensland’s famous win on the CODE Sports’ NRL show, Michael Carayannis and Brent Read put the blowtorch on Daley and his troops after a dismal showing as the series was sent to a decider at Suncorp Stadium in three weeks’ time.

For his ‘diabolical’ use of the bench and questionable team selection calls that ‘completely backfired’, Daley was well and truly under attack.

”It was a disgraceful performance. Shocking second half,” Read said.

“They’ve fixed up their first half, which has been their problem the past three games, (then) went out and put up a puerile second half.

“It was as bad as I can remember a NSW side (playing). They were bad in Origin 1 in the first half, this second half was worse than that. They’ve actually gone backwards.”

The controversial omission of second-row star Haumole Olakau’atu, who was dropped in favour of debutant Dylan Lucas, was widely criticised in the lead-up to game two - but it wasn’t the only questionable call from Daley and his selectors.

Mitchell Moses returned from a hamstring injury, relegating game one star Ethan Strange to the bench, in a selection that left plenty scratching their heads.

“Moses looked a little underdone. In hindsight, probably that backfired. The Lucas one was no question, that completely backfired,” Read added.

“I can’t remember seeing him run the ball. Origin can swallow up guys … and I think Dylan Lucas got swallowed up a little bit by the occasion.

“Haumole has to come in for Origin III, that in hindsight was a complete and utter blunder by Laurie Daley.”

After NSW took a slender half-time lead, Queensland roared back into the contest after the break - with Daley ‘clearly outcoached’ by the Maroons’ Billy Slater again, according to Read, while Carayannis blasted his use of the bench.

“One of the biggest blights on this NSW game - and it was the same in game one - was the bench rotation. It was diabolical,” Carayannis explained.

“Addin Fonua-Blake, 10 minutes. Came on in that second half and was on and off the field in the blink of an eye. No impact.

“Ethan Strange onto the field as a middle forward and eventually shifted to five-eighth for Mitch Moses.

“When NSW were chasing points, when NSW were trying to get some ascendancy around the ruck, when NSW needed a spark... Api sits unused.

“At that stage the game was in the balance. (In game one) Blake Brailey had an instant impact as soon as he came onto the field. So... what is doing with the bench rotation?”

And after losing the ‘unloseable’ series last year, Daley now faces the prospect of another shocking series loss on his coaching resume.

“He’s clearly been outcoached again. That’s pretty obvious. And I think the use of the bench rotation shows that,” Read added.

“I know he’s a great bloke, and we all love him, but last year he lost the unloseable series.

“This probably isn’t worse than last year - but it’s on the verge of being very close to it.

“Queensland look like well-coached, well-drilled, well-led football team. The Blues look like a complete and utter rabble. They weren’t even in the picture the second half.”
