Dane Gagai

Madge loves all the old boys from souths.

I really hope not.
We can do better, surely.

TIGERS EYE ORIGIN STAR

The Wests Tigers are in the market for a centre and are reportedly keeping a close eye on Rabbitohs and Queensland Origin star Dane Gagai.

The 30-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and that has been murmurs that he’d be squeezed out due to cap pressure.

Adam Reynolds’ move to the Broncos means the Rabbitohs will now have some cash to splash, with Gagai understood to be on their list. However, The Australian’s Brent Read is reporting the club has a fight ahead with the Wests Tigers “taking a close look” at Gagai.

“Once Adam Reynolds made the decision to leave South Sydney it meant Souths had some money for next year because they had been keeping a one-year deal on the table for Adam, which stopped them from moving on some other players,” Read told Triple M.

“Now that deal is obviously off the table, their focus now is on Jadyn Su’A and Dane Gagai and they’ve got a fight for both of those guys because some other clubs are circling.

“They were both linked to Brisbane, however my understanding is that Brisbane have dropped off Gagai.

“But the Wests Tigers are now taking a close look at Dane Gagai. Dane is on a big deal right now, I think he’s going to have to take a little bit of a hair cut but the Tigers are definitely in the market for a centre and they’re looking pretty closely at Dane Gagai.”

The Tigers’ interest in Gagai could spell bad news for Joey Leilua who has an option in the club’s favour in his contract for 2022.

Read believes the club will make a call on Leilua — who has bounced in and out of first grade this season — within the next couple of weeks.

“It doesn’t sound good for Joey, does it?” he said.

“I think the option on Joey is pretty close. The club’s going to make a decision on Joey in the next couple of weeks.

“If they get Gagai that could spell the end for Joey at the Tigers.”

I would much prefer Oliver Gildart to Gagai.

Reports are we have already signed Gildart. So who is his centre partner next season? AD, Joey, JTJ, one of the young guys like Ogden or Kei, or do we recruit a Gagai or Kris. If its AD then who is 5/8 - maybe Hastings and Brooks are the halves.
We certainly could do with a big tall winger like Tupou or Coates or Saab- these guys offer so much.

At the right price I'm down for it, we need centre's. Joey and Roberts aren't great options and Gagai has had a pretty good season

I thought we'd signed him but now it sounds like there's no done deal.

Most of forum said Saab was a dud when I said we should sign him ? gun player, crazy fast and great in the air.

These are the guys we should not be signing. We have made these mistakes before, and Gagai only has a good game once a month. We need younger centres with good defence. There must be plenty of them in State Cup

Massive yes for me we need experience and people with a win at all costs attitude and he has both

I still think this bloke is a gun player. I can understand our interest there.
He was one of the best on field against us the other week. We're getting there
but centre isn't our strong suit IMO. We need more strike.

Agree. He is playing great this season. Only issue is whether or not we can get value from him. History suggests no.

No thanks he only plays good in Origin

He has been good every week this year, best he had played in years, light years ahead of Talau, and BJ and JTJ on this years form
