David Gower finally given a go

Bit like debuting Ryan Tandy against Brisbane up there.

Named to start but came off the bench with Daine Laurie…

in the same match Johnny Cronk missed a field goal from 10m out :brick:

Good luck to him in his debut, I hope he gets some decent gametime and hopefully push for more regular selection next year.

gower is a similar type of player to danny galea isn't he??? should improve our defence atleast…

Ummm….no. Gower is a deadset turnstyle. Hope I am proved wrong, but from what I have seen in State Cup, he must have attended the Ken McGuiness School of Defence.

For those that have watched him for Balmain, does he have enough size to make metres in first grade as a front rower, or will he be found out like Tandy was?

does anyone know how he went when he played in the english super league?

I think you mean state cup. How many games has he played in first grade this year? 2\. Yeah we should have kept him and not signed Ellis :unamused:

Why on earth would we sign Tandy at the expense of Ellis? Obviously no one is suggesting that.

It might seem a really far out concept, but maybe people think that, we could, you know… have found a spot for both players...

CT has constantly suggested Ellis is a pillow, and he's jumped to the defense of a fringe first grader, simple conclusion really. Obviously no one else is going to prefer Tandy.

Tandy was a fringe first grader, just like Jobson and Patterson before him. He simply did not have the size to be a good first grade front rower. Do you really think he would have made any difference to the Tigers this year?

The initial question was not about Tandy. Does Gower have the size to be a good first grade front rower? (ie. over 100 kg and over 6 foot). I'm asking because I haven't seen him much.

Congrats to DG.

Hopefully he gets given decent game time.

I leave the State for a few days and this happens

He is filling in as a front rower and will do that job if asked in the NRL squad.

He is a backrower with a very similar attacking style to Ellis by his nature though

Comparing a style is not comparing a players ability.

Go and grind your axe elsewhere little man
