David Klemmer #264

Stories are now saying Klemmer himself said he doesn't want to play for anyone else, that he would never leave the Dogs.

Don't see how any club goes near Des Hasler ever again.

He has effectively consigned the dogs to also-rans for the next 3 years… not that anybody except their own supporters are upset by this.

Raelene Castle is more to blame than Des which is why she bailed out.

Dont think so.

Des had free reign on recruitment and roster management … and he is notorious for backending deals.

Castle's downfall was her bad relationship with Ray Dib, which became untenable.

When push comes to shove Klemmer may have no say in it if the $$$$$ are right bye bye Shazza bye bye doggies.Remember who would have thought we would have lost 3 of the big 4 at the time.

And of course he did the same thing at Manly and they are still in a total mess and will be for a couple more years.
Des is bad news.

Blocker thinks that the Bulldogs should release Woodsy back to the Tigers while paying half his Salary.

No thanks

100% agreed. The Dogs were roarting the cap as much as they could but Des, Raylene and Dib were ok with that.
It was a personality conflict, and one where someone like Dib who has been at the bulldogs for ages… was going to win.
Now the new board are aghast at the cap. The old board were 100% premiership focused, the new is team focused. Expect Dean pay to get another season maybe 2 more at the dogs and the aim to be quite different.

Everyone is pretty Anti-Des. It's kind of understandable. As usual I disagree with everyone.

Yet I think he actually is a great coach and did wonders at Manly.
Remember he kept that big group of stars, Lyon, Watmough, the Stewarts, Matai, etc Together. There was HUGE dysfunction at the board level with one group basically wanting to kill the other group. He took that team to the premiership and made a top 4 side out of not much.

I have no Doubt he flirted the cap and back-ended deals. But he got the Sea Eagles to 2 premierships. Under Geoff Toovey's reign the really tough choices had to be made and for some reason they hung onto Lyon and Matai (and still went to a final with them).

At the Dogs, well the attachment to Brett Morris on 600K is a very poor choice. He seemed to keep a reasonable forward pack but only get enough pounce for the Semi's but not the Grand Finals. Ofcourse he backended the cap like anything. Offering huge money to anyone he thought was talented (i.e. Fifita, etc).

Also his fickle attitude to halfbacks probably got him undone. He kind of knew Trent Hodkinson was past his prime. But Moses Mbye? Cmon he was never a real option in the halves.

Ofcourse the Board agreed with him. Ofcourse the board and him agreed that they could fudge to get who they wanted. They did not get what they wanted and Raylene, Des then Dib faced the axe.

I still rate Des as a coach.

Klemmer…

"I could never leave this club."

"I could never see myself leaving this club."

"If I have to leave to look after my family then that's an option."

What a douche. He's gone.

How do they get contracts registered for Woods and Foran when they knew the dogs were up xXxX creek before the season even started?
