So klemmer had a massive contract with the Tigers for 2025, yet goes and signs a new ( probably) lesser value contract for 2025 only….dumb?
There is no chance he signed up to play for less money, but we've already paid almost half his contract for the year

He'll get game time there which he wasn't going to get here and possibly another year on his contract.

I feel like we are th BAD break up club.

Most players leave with a bad taste in their mouths.

We need to fix this as the players / managers talk and this could be detrimental to future recruitment.
If you get dumped by the wooden spooners what does that say about oneself? Human nature is to deflect the embarrassment.

Edit. Perhaps it reflects how much respect these players actually have for our club. Winning regularly would change that.

We should have already paid him for November, December, January, February and almost half of March.

That is actually a bit over a third of the year.

Not just Klemmer,

I'm saying is that we need to manage players exits more professionally in our long term interests

You can stretch it out further and go all the way back to Anasta.

Roosters passed on him. Tigers took him on and he contributed almost nothing to us yet he seems jaded by his experience. I think he feels like he took a social hit by coming here. There’s absolutely no respect for the club. There’s the whole strapping tape Gatorade stories. Is there more to it? His perception seems to fester through the media and player ranks. (Not saying it’s directly imflienced by him).

Brandon Smiths attitude is another one. He almost laughs at the suggestion at coming to Tigers. His perception I think is common but it’s just that he’s not professional enough to not express it.

Now is the toxic culture so strong that after an almost complete flush out from top down, of Board, CEO, Coaching, Player rosters, staff and sponsor we are still that bad? Who is left to continue the toxic legacy from say 10 years ago?

I think it’s just hard to shake this monkey in the NRL with the current power, manager, politics and salary cap structures. Richo isn’t in it to make friends. I agree if the players aren’t in it for the crocodile role (or on the bus) then see ya because ultimately they are the only ones who can win games for you.

Success on the field is the only thing that will change perceptions. We can talk as much as we like about clean outs, recruiting etc etc etc but they should be means to an end ( more wins) not an end unto themself.
Once we start winning the whole perception changes and we will be viewed in a different light by players, managers, fans and the general public.
So Benji, let’s get this team winning, not competing and if you can’t, then move aside.

If I owned a business and an employee was getting paid $800000 but was really only worth $400000 I would be looking to offload that employee also. I'm sure Klemmer is still getting his money one way or another, but it is to the benefit of us moving forward. I applaud Richo and would suggest there is more happening behind the scenes.

I wonder what the perception of the Roosters season and Bee Sting Head Robbos prospects as a coach are like after last night. 🤣

Certainly better than they were 5 minutes before kick off. Despite the negative vibe he sometimes gets, Robbo is still a high grade coach, and to do what Roosters did last night, albeit against a somewhat ordinary Panthers, reinforces that.
But, in my experience, the motivation used to lift them for one game is a lot harder over a season, especially with the player gaps they have. If he can do that, then he truly is a great coach.

How do you tell a player that he's no longer good enough or not wanted without pissing him off, there's no sugar coating it anyway you deliver the conversation, happens at all clubs it's a part of football the player if a true professional would just move on and prove them wrong at another club.
But then you have players that want to complain and moan not letting it go does that remind you of anyone.

You’re right RHS, it’s just one aspect of the life of a pro footballer. At least these guys are going to another club to ply their trade, and pay the bills. But we all have pride and getting cut always hurts, whether it’s sport or a job.
PS or a relationship !

Your making more out of this than there really is imo.
While I agree with @Spartan117 we are a bad break up club so to speak...I've heard anasta say plenty good things about us, but yes they take the mickey out of us and there's only one way to negate that and.thats play good footy and win games
ps - why anyone would care what Brandon Smith thinks has me baffled...

He had about 7 players out there.last night with a combined NRL games experience of about 52 games...yet the narrative is always he's been gifted great players.
Maybe last night showed why that's not always the case
I dislike the roosters as much as the next bloke but their coach can coach and he has a brilliant rugby league mind up there with Bennett Bellamy and sheens (at his.peak)

Fair enough. I get your point regarding smith. My point is more that if hypothetically if a fair chunk of the playing fraternity dont take us seriously, then its tough recruiting better players.

Luai is a start. Winning will help

The Riff were shocking...made the Rorters look good...

Yep. And who cares how thr split was handled if it leads to success. Pretty sure the way Jennings, DWZ and some of the other contracts at Penrith were let go wasn't perfect but because they won and won and won, no one cares now and haven't donefor a long time.

I would also suggest more is going on behind the scenes too, based on the way Richo has hit the ground running since January 2024, working from a hospital bed.
