Canterbury Bulldogs prop David Klemmer reportedly seeking a release from NRL contract

The Bulldogs have categorically denied prop David Klemmer has asked for a release from the club over failed financial dealings. Bulldogs chief executive Raelene Castle says there's not truth to the reports that Klemmer has requested a release.

Fairfax Media reports Klemmer could be on his way out of Belmore and the Origin player is seeking to part ways with the club from the final three years of his current deal which expires in 2020\. In what could be seen as a major blow to Canterbury’s future aspirations, Klemmer is believed to be upset over the club’s failure to commit to a number of financial agreements previously agreed upon.

What also seems to be irking Klemmer is his future as a starting player in the Bulldogs pack. The 23-year-old may have to be shifted to the bench next year to accommodate the arrival of Aaron Woods, who would link up with Tolman and skipper James Graham in the starting pack. The Bulldogs are said to be scrambling to appease Klemmer and give the player what he’s owed but there’s no guarantee the monster forward will stay.

With Klemmer’s standing in the game it won’t take too long for the young forward to find another home with whispers the Tigers are keen to swoop. The Tigers showed interest in the Blues forward last time he was off contract and it would be fair to say Ivan Cleary wouldn’t mind adding a massive forward to his already humungous pack including new signings Russell Packer and Ben Matulino for next year.

Klemmer is also said to be unhappy with the way the Bulldogs treated close friend and teammate Josh Reynolds, who is also off to the Tigers at the end of the season. The Bulldogs are having a tough time re-jigging their salary cap for next year with the family club expecting to part ways with Sam Kasiano and Greg Eastwood to make room for Woods and Kieran Foran. James Graham was reportedly linked to joins the Knights but if Klemmer seeks a release then he’ll likely be able to remain with the Bulldogs.

Btw Fox Sports has apparently contacted the CEO of the Bulldogs and apparently she said that Klemmer hasn't even asked for a release. It's probably just a rumour. Also, James Hooper told MMM that Taane Milne has agreed personal terms with the Tigers p. It's 'apparently' going to be announced in the coming days.

I would love to see Klemmer in the Tigers colours. The look on Woods' face would be priceless.

Can any of the mods tell me how many members we have on this forum?

Tacky you have got to stop stirring up the kennel, you are causing major damage within the kennel. The dogs are starting to attack each other in a real fight with poor Dessy in the middle copping all the abuse.
Enjoy yourself next year Woodsy

Don't get too snooky guys.
How long has Canterbury been in the doldrums in modern times?

Not often, each time they are poor on the competition table they go on a spending spree and replace half the team.

I can't remember them ever having to wait three or four years to change their predicament like us or some other sides.

They'll virtually have the same side next year. Is Woods really going to turn them into premiership contenders? That leaves Foran. Is he? I doubt it.

Their spine was terrible today - never really looked liked amounting any pressure on Penrith.Going to be an interesting week over there just wonder whether Forans signature has a Des clause in it.

Yes they do miss Reynolds and it shows on the field with direction and enthusiasm, guess who gets these qualities in 2018

The Dogs are in a shambles .. paying top dollars for both Woods and Foran is going to bite them in the ar*e .. !! They are going to lose at least two other players .. Kasiano, Eastwood, Graham and now Klemmer are players all be rumoured to be leaving the club.

Storm look to be after Kasiano and Newcastle are desperate to get Graham for next season. I wouldn't be surprised if Klemmer is cheesed off with the price of dollars they have thrown at Woods and Foran .. he's State of Origin starting prop now, and they not paying big dollars, and there is talk that he will be starting from the bench for the Dogs next season .. the guy wants a starting position.

I think the Tigers should offer him a bus ticket, more $$ than what he's on at the Dogs, and a starting position in the 2nd row, that would give us:

8\. Matulino
9\. McIlwrick
10\. Packer
11\. Klemmer
12\. McQueen
13\. Taylor

How sweet would this be .. !!

I had a look at the Kennel after today's effort. Gee they love Des.
:roll

What's funny about this Klemmer rumour .. is that the Dogs have denied the rumour, but not Klemmer himself .. !!

This could really go pear shaped for the Dogs. I honestly don't rate Woods and Foran appears to be losing it. They could have two overpaid hacks next year. Foran and Woods will have to improve significantly for the Dogs to look good over the next couple of years.

Not sweet at all - Klemmer is not a second rower.

The Tigers will finish above the Dogs next year. I'd bet a lot of money on it. They're a club in a bigger crisis then us.
