David Nofoaluma #164

A lot of animosity towards Nofo on here at the moment.

Why? who knows. He said he will field some offers before he and his manager sit down to talk turkey later.

Do people on here that buy a new suit - go into the first shop they come to and say I'll take that one, and it's all over. I would give everyone the benefit of the doubt and say that they would probably shop around.

Noffo does the same thing, with something a little more important than buying a suit and he cops a barrage of abuse. He Hasn't done anything wrong, hasn't said he want's to play FB or anything to get more money, like that goose from Melbourne that you are all wetting yourselves over.

Give the guy a break - hasn't even mentioned a figure yet.

Some people on here slay me.

Are footballers not allowed to be employed after their playing days?

I can never understand the comment "their careers are short". Yes NRL careers typically are short, but their lives are long.

E.g. Tedesco can earn 10x more in one season, excluding sponsorships and TPAs, than your average FT worker earns in a year. Assuming the average worker is in the workforce for 45 years, Tedesco only needs 5 years on top dollar to earn an average lifetime salary. Again, excluding sponsorships, endorsements etc.

Clearly your average NRL player doesn't earn that much, but minimum wage for the NRL is still well above average wage, and like regular folks you are always welcome to try a career change if it's not working for you.

No issue with this at all, Nofo has given great service and deserves to canvass his options. Clearly Tigers have a price and they intend to stick to it - this is the new way of doing things post-Ivan.

Wouldn’t Noffy be eligible for the veterans allowance next year? It’s 8 years for juniors Or are we using that up already

see ya Nofo
use the money elsewhere and promote someone else . One good year and he thinks he is Ken Irvine.
Would rather lose Noffo and put the money towards Stephen Crichton or something.
Annoying thing is we may well should have swapped him for JAC when we had a chance. Now if he leaves we are no guarantee to get JAC.
As for shopping yourself around, that is good for some, Woods got hammered for it...

Yes I agree ..... we should not expect anything different from the club any future contract negotiations are concerned ..... approach where a value is placed on a player and stick solid.
That applies to negotiations with JAC, Nofo or anyone else.
And I applaud the club and the coaching staff ..... job well done.

no more paying overs
probably means we lose nofo and miss JAC so be it
elite money should be saved for the likes of Munster, Grant or tedesco

I'm more than happy for him to test the open market. If he gets a better offer and wants to take it, I wish him well. I'd love for him to stay but I understand his worth to the club may be different to his worth personally or to another club. Hopefully the fans, future potential to earn in a role with the club and his own desire means he stays WT for life.

A nice car to someone might be worth 50K, but to someone who doesn't have a licence, it might be only worth 20K.

Its all relative.

What I have noticed of late is the club will now only pay what they think a player is worth...Nofo is a solid 1st grader nothing more nothing less if he can do better somewhere else good luck to him .
Just do not use the supporter base to up the anti!!

100% correct. Great club man but won’t be paid beyond his perceived worth. If another club offers him a retirement contract - good luck to him!

Agree

Feels like they have said we will never have another Reynolds/Packer situation again, we’re going after young players and redemption stories, hey, it’s a change and that’s better than repeating our mistakes in my mind.

This one will hurt considering we didn't trade him for JAC; just for him to potentially leave us after next season.

Dude JAC didn’t want to come here after receiving dogs offer $$

I have no problems with Nofo wanting more money. I like him as a player and I hope he stays. We can't do business though by over paying for every player who wants to maximize their earnings.

The idea that we didn't get JAC because we didn't give up Nofo simply isn't true. There is a common theme in all of these negotiations that we seeing and that is the players want maximum dollars.

The only difference I've see is Latrell. I have no idea what he was thinking.

He said the same stuff last time and ended up re-signing.

He’s that far ahead any of our other wingers, and this year scored more tries and try assists than JAC in a much worse side.

Please stay Nofa.

But in huge games this year against Parra, Souths and Penrith he was MIA. He’s a quality finisher and offloader who lacks genuine track speed.

A lot of people here seem to overlook all the dirty hit up he take from his own red zone, he never shirks those first play of the set.
He also scores a lot of tries than other wingers would not because of his strength and determination

His work rate is impressive but he actually starts a lot of sets by crabbing across field and that can be a negative. Your forwards then have to burn extra fuel to catch up with him. If he’d run hard and straight more I’d be a huge fan.

He owes us nothing & has been bloody loyal to us when any form of talent ran out the door bar him and Brooks.

If he can grab a great payday for his last contract he should, he deserves it.

Just hope it’s with us but not 900k

His involvement in attack is second to none but he’s also not the fastest winger

Just don't see Nofo going anywhere, Madge knows what he means to the club.

Very under-appreciated around here for someone whos been consistently one of our best players. Comes with defensive mistakes but guess what even the best wingers do the same.

JAC couldn't come here because storm would not release him, storm wanted nofo or talau we could have had JAC for 2021
