David Nofoaluma talks about the year that was and the year to come.

No questions are off limits in our 2017 "Unfiltered" Player Profile videos.

Nofoaluma on… his 2016 form

"I think it was the best year of my career, for sure. I was really happy with how I went. It was exciting to know what I can do when I get more games into me. As each game progressed, I picked up a lot of things and I kept finding things that I could do in playing to improve. I felt better and better as each game went on and I think I was playing my best footy at the end of the year, which was really pleasing."

Nofoaluma on... the right edge

"It's always good scoring tries, but it comes off the back of good players around me. I'm really lucky to have amazing players like Mitch, Teddy and Kevvy around me to set me up. I would love to be on top of the try-scorers again in 2017\. I think we're building some really special on that edge and we're really dangerous. The more we play together, the more that combination develops and I think you could see that during the year.

"To be honest, we could have been a lot better defensively, and we've got something to work on there this pre-season to stop that. We want to be the best right edge in the competition in both attack and defence and we'll work really hard to get there."

Nofoaluma on... making his debut for Samoa

"There's a lot about family and culture in playing for Samoa. They're a great community, and footy is cherished there, and there was no prouder moment to represent those people."

Nofoaluma on... his 2017 goals

"I've got high expectations. I want to be one of the best wingers in the game and I'm doing my best to achieve that. If I'm working on those little things, and preparing well, hopefully it pays off in the game. We've got great players here and I think there's something really exciting."

David..mate if you guys can turn the worst right edge defensively in the Comp to the best in a pre-season we will be Un-stoppable …

Rebellions are built on HOPE..

There is no doubt that Dave and the guys can be extremely exciting in attack…...hopefully JT has introduced them to a couple of new tackling bags and techniques.....maybe big Jama can help stop the points leaking on that side... :unamused:

You are correct but you can hardly expect him to say "the bloke alongside me has no idea in defence" even if it is obvious.

i had a chuckle at that too. its still a basic cliche interview, but really we dont need anything more. i dont know why they tried to say it was anything different.

onto nofo i thought he finished the season brilliantly. his work out of our end is so valuable. if he continues that form i genuinaly think he will come into rep contention in another year or two

Until he's asked how much does he think he's worth on the open market.

Interesting fact on Noffa. His stats go through the roof when Tedesco plays as opposed to when he doesn't. Not sure how much of a coincidence that is.

'To be honest we could have been better defensively'….understatement of the century. But I suspect it's got a lot more to do with the guys inside him.

Yep the true culprits were the weak defensive structures of an inexperienced backrower, an ineffective 5/8th and a clueless centre. They compounded each others errors resulting in Nofo being overlapped regularly.

Will be interesting to see if Moses is ineffective in the all stars match with some quality players around him.

Hey guys,

Here is Nofa's Interview. Keep your eye on question 7  So good.

Thanks for the support with these videos too. This is the last of the Tigers ones for now.
Enjoy

BASED on key attacking statistics, David Nofoaluma would not have looked out of place in Kingscliff preparing to make his NSW Origin debut on the wing.

But the Wests Tigers flyer knows he must fix his leaky defence if he is any hope of forcing his way into the Blues team and playing along side good mate James Tedesco.

Nofoaluma spent this week in Manly where the Tigers completed their own intense training camp.

When Tom Trbojevic broke down with injury and created a wing vacancy for NSW a couple of weeks ago, Tedesco told Nofoaluma he needed to start giving some serious thought to pulling on the Blues jersey.

Brett Morris and Blake Ferguson were named NSW’s wingers for Origin I next Wednesday.

The Nofoaluma Blues debate is not as crazy as it sounds considering he leads the overall competition for tackle busts.

He has also made more metres than any other winger except for Brisbane and Queensland flyer Corey Oates, and the third most linebreaks behind internationals Suliasi Vunivalu and Jordan Rapana.

The 23-year-old has been arguably the standout performer after 11 rounds in an awful Tigers team.

But Nofoaluma has missed more tackles than any other winger — and is now working on that area so he can bump himself up the Blues pecking order.

“I know there are things I need to work on, and once I get that sorted it will be good,’’ Nofoaluma told The Daily Telegraph.

“We changed a bit of the defence in the pre-season, it didn’t work, and it’s hard to change something you’ve practised in the pre-season.

“Ivan (Cleary) and myself and the coaching staff are working hard to improve that.

“Once my defence gets sorted, my attack looks after itself.

“I’d love to play Origin, I just have to keep playing great footy and hopefully I’ll get that opportunity.

“I need to get to the point where the selectors have no other choice but to pick me. That’s what happened with ‘Teddy’ when the selectors had to pick him, and the fans wanted him in the team.’’

Nofoaluma, 23, played for City last year, only for a knee injury to rule him out of Samoa’s international earlier this month.

He said the bye round had come at the perfect time for the club after the dramas on and off the field across the opening 11 rounds.

Unlike Tedesco, skipper Aaron Woods and Mitchell Moses, Nofoaluma inked a new deal with the club, and even waived the cooling-off period because he wanted some positive news for the Tigers fans.

Nofoaluma said the 2018 arrivals of Josh Reynolds, Russell Packer, Ben Matulino and the likely signature of Tui Lolohea made it easy to remain positive the remainder of this season.

The Tigers will return next weekend to play the high-flying Dragons, with Nofoaluma determined to stop Jason Nightingale who put three tries on him earlier this year.

Nofa should just stay on his man and stop rushing in when he doesn't have too, rushing in rarely pays off and its about time he realises the error of his ways regardless of who is inside of him.

Well if that motivates him to improve his defence great but Christ if he's being considered for NSW we're in trouble…
