David Nofoaluma #164

Hope he stays but from what he's saying and what the managers is like these days and the season that he just had, I really don't know and wouldn't be surprised if he's next to go unfortunately

Or he thinks he’s worth more than he is. He had a great season but I’d offer him $500k max.

Not worth $500k imo. That is absolute elite winger money.

He's not semi radradra status but he was easily our best player and one of the best wingers in the comp. There's no dollar value on the hole he would leave if he left imo

Can't afford to get attached to players - loyalty only lasts as long as there manager telling them they can get more for them elsewhere. The only good thing about losing Teddy makes losing any other player a breeze.

Seeing more and more wingers earning that nowadays and this season he was a top 5 winger, top 3 really, Won the dally M too. $500k is my very max would hope for less than that. We wouldn’t sign a winger as good in his place either most likely, 200+ metres a game and 17 tries this season

Nice timing on the eve of the departure of Aloiai. Wasn't he signed to an overly large contract previously taking advantage of the insecurity of WTs following the loss of the infamous three?

Fair enough, I think he had a good season but he's not top 5 winger imo, and not worth $500k.

Nofa is an important player to keep for ability and team morale/leadership. They will make it work some loyalty would be good from both sides fair deal 500k but give him an upgrade if possible and 3 year extension. He’s proven to be one of our best under Madge most weeks.

That said any more and forget it we can’t be paying wingers huge money in a rebuilding team.

What I have noticed of late is the club will now only pay what they think a player is worth...Nofo is a solid 1st grader nothing more nothing less if he can do better somewhere else good luck to him .
Just do not use the supporter base to up the anti!!

He's just trying to get the maximum he can. I'm sure he was advised by his manager to say that. Nothing wrong given its his last contract.

I'm sure he'll stick with the tigers

100% correct. Great club man but won’t be paid beyond his perceived worth. If another club offers him a retirement contract - good luck to him!

I thought he stayed for less than he was offered elsewhere

Isn’t JAC on 550 as a winger this year. There is your benchmark.
Sivo, JAC, tupou, to’o, the Cronulla kid, may all are all arguable as good or better and most on less money.
Deserves a good contract upgrade, but mansour thought that as well

Nofa is a flat track bully, whenever we really need to win he has a quiet game. Spend the half million on a match winner, should have swapped him for JAC.

Multiple tries against titans 2 bulldogs 3 dragons 2 and manly 3 inflated his stats in 2020.

Nofa is 26... if this is his last contract, what's he after a 5 yr deal?

Pure money grab here. I know players have to look out for themselves, but there's a fine line where you become a mercenary, and it's a line that if you cross you become no good for the club to hire.

What will people think* if Nofa's next to sing the 'What about me' sob story, and bag out the WT and leave to another club?

Will he leave and we all say, well at least now there's a spot in the roster where he was, and the money we were paying him now we can pay someone else, so yah we win.

If Nofa wants more money, negotiate with some class, and keep it out of the press.

Nofoaluma is good but he's probably peaked or is about to peak and he will be after a long term big money deal here and if we give it to him it'd have to be mostly about loyalty and culture because the business sense of it isn't there. Given what's been thrown around you'd think he'd be attracting about 5-600k per annum deals from some of the lesser clubs and I am not sure that we should match it.

Flipside I'll be happy if he stays. He's a great player and it'd be good if we just did right by one of our loyal sons for once.

He's had one good year.

I certainly wouldnt want to see him elsewhere but i also wouldnt want to be paying him over 500k.He is a passionate player for us so hopefully that will help keeping him.
