This one will hurt considering we didn't trade him for JAC; just for him to potentially leave us after next season.

Dude JAC didn’t want to come here after receiving dogs offer $$

JAC couldn't come here because storm would not release him, storm wanted nofo or talau we could have had JAC for 2021

No.

no more paying overs
probably means we lose nofo and miss JAC so be it
elite money should be saved for the likes of Munster, Grant or tedesco

Wingers are a dime a dozen.....no more than $500k

what do you mean No
Storm asked for Nofo... Madge said David is not going anywhere.
Move on a month and Nofo may now go elsewhere and we miss out no JAC and lose nofo

that is true maybe he didn't, we will never know. You can see how this will play out storm will sign him to replace JAC

Or maybe he extends with us.

I think he is being a bit premature regarding his last contract. This is most likely to be his biggest contract given his age and 2020 season so is probably just fishing to find a potential sugar daddy. I expect him to get a 3-4 year deal and then a final deal if 1-2 years but that will be a small top-up compared to this one.

The perception of management's ability to  preside over club matters competently is the only factor constantly scrutinised, with our retention/recruitment at the top of the list.
So to let the only current junior we've helped reach their full potential - throughout instability  - walk, would be a disservice to trying to correct this perception.
The last few years have made it impossible to measure the success of any club objectives, but I'd say seeing Nofo at peak performance and developed into a solid NRL player shows us that we are making some sort of headway.

He deserves to be rewarded for his service and efforts and the club needs to show us, and others, how they'd like to be defined when it comes to player treatment. Because there's a big downside to what we are already (highly) aware of, including in the media, when it comes to releasing our most talented juniors

Couldn't agree more!

Lauren I have difficulty with your last paragraph. Nofoaluma has had one good year but really is a relatively slow winger with defensive deficiencies. He imo is at max remuneration and if he wants more he can be on his way. We should back our juniors and.have confidence that another winger will emerge by the end of next year.

No player is perfect though and all have their own faults.
He still performed to the best of his ability and was one of the best wingers in the NRL this year, was my point on it. Idk why it's so hard to give him credit for that.
Not questioning the negotiations - we don't even have the facts at hand - but more that there's another factor which needs to be considered, as it happens to impact the perception of the club.
I'm hopeful we're setting the terms appropriate to the bigger picture (of the club's objectives) but also showing him his worth to the team.

Don't think there are too many juniors within the club and I honestly can't remember the last time we'd had anyone genuinely rated amongst the best in the league.
I get what's done is done but I don't wish to see the club follow the same business model that's caused us detriment before.

Nofa deserves to be able to look around. At the end of the day we can’t let our hearts rule over our heads for an overpriced winger who will be getting on in 2022 and we should be coiled and ready to strike with a healthy salary cap to target more valuable positions.

We’ve got young players like Kei and Riszk who have a very good chance of coming through the ranks and will be up there by the end of 2021.

I’m with Paws on this one. Ignore youth at your peril as Ian Chappell said this week.

No issues with anyone testing the open market. It is an important part of negotiations and let’s them see their market value, what options they have and the demand for their services.

Why do our guys seem to want to constantly play this out in the media or social media.

Nofa did this last time if I remember correctly . I have a theory for this . I feel like the club actually bends over a lot to the players , or did in the past , it creates a love for the joint , sure ., but a sense superiority in the players , who lets face it , have been mediocre for far too long . So when the club goes to them with a contract offer that is less than thier manger tells them they’re worth ,they get all offended “because I’m one of the best players around here” .
When the answer is sure , Th at may be true , but we haven’t won for 9 years , how much curry does that really favour ?

We each have differing views on players. Imo Nofoaluma is at max dollar value. We have outstanding outside back talent at the Club. Josh Rizk is a super talent. He is a very busy player, strong and super quick.

Exactly, when we start being a regular in the 8, then talk.
Nofo had a good year last year, but has had some ordinary ones as well, hope he stays, but young superstars are always coming along.
The difficult discussion would be to tell them they are not being resigned, e.g. Benji etc.

I’m sure the club put forward a fair and reasonable offer to Nofa, maybe not as much as he would’ve liked but more than JAC is getting atm.
Local junior or not, his share of the cap space shouldn’t be determined on his historical value. He is not an antique, well not yet. If Nofa wants an increase in income then why not talk to his manager about getting him extra gigs for some TPD cash flow? Naturally his manager would float the idea of reinventing himself as a FB.
I don’t know? Maybe Nofa would be better off looking around to get a realistic valuation on his contribution in terms of cap percentile?
Should he be one of the highest paid wingers in the game?
If he wants to be then I think there are areas of his game he could improve.

Noffa doesn’t owe the club as the club doesn’t owe noffa anything.
We really can’t offer money on sentiment imo just fair value.
Benji and Farah got overs to stay which didn’t help the club any. Most other clubs have players like this sign for less.
If noffa leaves that’s his choice. Only hope if it happens that it all goes down with integrity

If Nofa does decide to leave .. we have plenty left to replace him:

Asu Kepaoa
Paul Momirovski
Tommy Talau
Reece Hoffman
Wllien Kei
Zac Cini
Kane Bradley
