Sees someone like Cotric get offered $600k and others leave Wests Tigers for more money even though they were still under and agreed contract.

If he leaves this weakens us?

I think you've answered your own question. If he leaves, it will cost us (perhaps) $600k to get a similar replacement. Given Nofo was a winger of the year it could be argued it may cost even more. Paying $600k for a winger will definitely weaken us.

Despite what some think, there is not a proliferation of quality wingers on the market and the ones available are costing more than Nofo. If we're trying to keep the cap in check we're better off keeping him.

We definitely shouldn't pay overs - nor offer too long a contract - but for the sake of $50k or whatever we'd be mad not to try and retain him. I doubt any other winger we could buy would bleed gold and black like Nofo and provide the stats he does.

Haha
I will guarantee you that we can have a winger play for us for well under $600k.

Some people.

You are correct cq - I'm sure we could get wingers to play for us for nothing.

They would also not be worth a bean.

Why do people write rubbish to try and win points?

“We could get wingers to play for us for nothing”

That's rich coming from you !!!!! Delete me and you won't have to worry about it.

More rubbish

I don't understand why we are all going off about what Noffa is or is not worth and what he can or cannot do based on a newspaper article. Hasn't the lesson been learnt about journalist credibility?

Mate, it had to be Nofa and his agent that went to the media. So yes journos are full of it, their content unreliable and their motivation only for their clicks and not validity, but this one is Nofa trying to use them to his advantage over us.

Nofo is the heart and soul of this club. This is not a black and white situation about whether he’s worth this or that.

If Nofo leaves it is an absolute travesty and a truly dark day for this club.

And for those people saying 500k is only reserved for elite wingers. Jesus Christ...HE IS AN ELITE WINGER!

He is without a doubt in the top 5 wingers in the game and last season was head and shoulders the best.

it could be interesting to hear how much would people pay for Mansour? For mine Nofoaluma is the same type of player,
it could be as always 'the grass is greener ...'?

Nofa at age 26 probably has at least 3 top years left, I’d have him at 400K-425K over 3

Mansour at age 30 probably has one left maybe 2 max, I’d have him at 275K over 2

So your going to downgrade Noffos contract - I'm sure he will be pleased with that.

Russ, NSW is expecting our doctors, nurses and police to effectively take pay cuts while putting their lives on the line against Covid19. Many businesses have also gone under and jobs lost. Why should a footballer be exempt from cuts especially when Abdo has already said the grants will be cut. Nofoaluma's manager needs a reality check.

There is a big difference to start with talking about front line workers and footballers.
Also talking about what that goose Gladys is doing to the state and football - two different things again.

I don't see players like JAC, Grant etc. advocating they are happy to take a paycut.

Lastly - Noffo is on 450k - with h is last two seasons especially he would rightly expect a pay increase. How much that is would be debatable. I would think around 10% would be reasonable (that would give him approx. 500k). I would think that would be ok.

Nobody should have to take a pay cut that is doing their job. If Gladys stopped spending money on favoured electorates and stupid projects she wouldn't have to ask people to take a pay cut.

I assume if you are still working - you would also be happy to take a paycut - if I was working I wouldn't.

Job losses, pay cuts, poverty and then player managers wanting contract increases. I hope Hartigan is firm but polite. This is our.offer and we won't budge.

our offer is our offer if he can get more elsewhere then all the best

The world of reality is the NRL has reduced income which means reduced payments to Clubs. There will be a flow on. There is a limit to what can be paid by WTs no matter what his manager wants. Nofoaluma is no match winner, a good club player who has one good year in attack.

Yes, that seems to be the new mantra for the club. Good to see.

Fact
Nofa made 89 tackles in 2020 and missed 33.
Wingers don’t deserve half a million bucks a year, unless your wearing a Kangaroos jersey.

Just asking, how would his stats compare with other wingers who are on $500k or more?

JAC made 98 and missed 18.

also plays for nsw and Australia too

I remember Nofa (or his agent) trying the same stunt in 2017, he was going to join Moses at the Eels, saying he had bought in to Arthur’s vision of a successful future for the club etc. Naturally back then the wheels were falling off , WT needed something to shift the momentum so they threw $450k at Nofa. Unfortunately for Nofa and his manager WT are in a much stronger position these days with stability and a strong desire for success replacing mediocrity and helplessness. So sorry Nofa, that approach won’t give you any leverage this time. But good luck mate, just the same.

Jedi, I can sense you're getting a little nervous about Nofa leaving. Don't worry, I reckon we'll be popping the champagne corks when he re-signs soon and he'll have a little extra to spend.

I can not remember Nofa saying anything remotely like that last time.I do remember parra making him a good offer and he rejected it

While Nofoaluma said his preference was to stay put, he had bought into Arthur's vision for the Eels.

"Yeah, I've spoken with him, we've had talks," Nofoaluma said.

"There are a lot of positive things that you hear from him and Mitch has told me the same thing.

"He's really keen on building something at Parramatta and I've taken on the things he's discussed with me. At the end of the day you've got to weigh up your options and make a decision when the time comes."

Anyone see the double twitter post of Nofa's birthday? WT have never done that before (barring Benji i think), makes me wonder......

I know this forum likes to voice its opinnions and what not.

But i got none in re to Nofa, his been loyal, his never sold the club out, and i love watching him play.

I think nofa has earned the right to go where he wants to go! I hope he stays here, like a lot of people have said, he is probs the vision of Wt for the next couple years, I mean purely faced on the fact that if he plays for one more year and completes more than 10 tries, he will be the highest try scorer for Wt.

I dont think his worth more than 500k on paper, but i like rallying around a dream, I think thats him next year tbh, I could be wrong and thats ok, but I hope we retain him
