Nofo has had ONE good year

hello Tigers fans, Souths have expressed interest in signing Nofoaluma as expressed in the news this morning however, it isn’t all gloomy on your guys end. Laurie and Mansour will be heading to you guys this year if Nofoaluma elects to take up the Souths offer, if he does he could potentially be heading there for the 2021 season.

Your team is also interested in signing Dallin Watene-zalezniak from the Bulldogs. He played his best football under Michael Maguire for the Kiwi international side. This signing is most likely for 2022 but nonetheless a good signing.

Not sure letting Nofa go early is worth it to get Mansour and Laurie. We’re getting Laurie in 2022 anyway and Mansour is a downgrade

As for DWZ he did play good under Madge but he’s been pretty average lately, he’s no fullback and not sure he’s that great a winger either

Imagine trading a dally m winger of the year for a bloke who’s just turned 30, just so we can get an unproven talent a year early. Mansour is a downgrade on almost every level. But it seems you’re the leader of the Nofoaluma hate club so I’m sure this won’t register with you very well

I was totally against it , as I thought Nofa deserved to be treated as a top guy and all that that entails . I don’t see Souths signing Nofa. They didn’t chase JAC too hard it seems so why go for a lesser winger for the same (or possibly more) dollars? I know they lose Allan but he was only a depth player anyway. Just doesn’t add up

Totally , but from all accounts we didn’t even ask him , as we treated him with the utmost respect . Ok , even from a funds allocation . We offered less than the dogs , in which we could have matched thier offer , as I’m assuming that was because we had funds allocated for Nofa.

Also a bit left field, maybe dogs swapped Remis smith for JAC but haven’t publicly announced it so tigers don’t blow up a fuss. I know Josh goes to the Dogs in 2022 but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets released early now that they have smith

Wouldn’t it just have been sums though . Ie you want 2 elite wingers of which your willing to commit 600+500 so 1.1mil . If you pay one 700k , and say a mansour type 350k , wouldn’t you theoretically come out exactly the same ?

Mansour is a definite downgrade - you're kidding yourself to think otherwise.

a state of origin winger and semi final player don't think so

Wasn’t he dropped after one origin game? And making finals requires a good 25 players (at least)

Ah i love the off season. After fighting with the family over Xmas and tired of having the Covid fever and the boogie woogie flu its refreshing to see all the young"uns on here having heart palpitations over unsubstantiated rumours. Warms the cockles of my heart to see the frustration i used to go through 50 years ago are still alive and well. No doubt some may come true - i mean the tooth fairy and santa still exists - so it can't all be bad. Ah well i might just go and down another gin - its meant to be the liquor for downers.

The idea is to get as many players under value as possible, that does allow you to over spend on some key players that turn your team into a contender. A winger, even JAC, are not the players you over spend on. You use that money on the true elite in the game that are transformational for your team.

I don’t care if we lose Nofa , as amazing as he is in attack , the kid is horrendous in defence . And I’m a Nofa fan . I’m more confused about the player swap we refused . But whatever , if we get mansour who is better than Nofa defensively but nowhere near as good offensively and Laurie , then , that would ring a bit hollow , but I think improve the team as a whole .
I’m huge on defence . Like I’ve said 100 times . I’d rather Win 12-8 than lose 36-30. I don’t care who is in the team . I want a brick wall in the defensive line . If that’s Nofa ,fine . If there’s a player who can offer more defensively and 70% attack . Then that’s a player I’d consider as well .

I doubt the Dogs would care. Despite what has been stated publicly and in the press, Heads of Agreements are generally non binding. They are not contracts but outline what the contract would be if it eventuates. I’m sure there a lawyers on this forum that can clarify and let me know if I am wrong.
