Hopefully our next Gen in the likes of Galvin, Da Silva, Kitt & Luke etc are all one club men.
Hopefully,

But just to think even benji, Farah, Richards aren't, it's actually a loss.

My former Magpies heroes back pre 2000 all bailed before retirement it was a big negative for the club and the Tigers failure to create one club ambassadors is a perennial fail.

We agree on most thing Cochises, but past experience with WTs spooks me a bit,and there was a very real risk(albeit minor)of the worst case scenario, and its not quite fair to put another player in that position
Hes clearly struggling mentally..we must have someone with a little experience in this area..and after that Douhi drops in for a chat
Our "process " needs to accomodate this possibility, remote as it may be
.Fortunately it all worked out well
I’m just trying to think how Cleary, Bennett and Bellamy might have handled it. Somehow I don’t see them sending a player ?

This club sadly struggles to maintain a one club man preferably a junior or hero.

Noff not seeing it out ads to the list.

It's perennial.
Penrith seem to be having trouble hanging on to their junior established players and it has got nothing to do with the club.
The modern day player far more about self and interest and setting themselves up ahead of club loyalty.

Well it doesn’t make any sense to me !
They would probably send someone earmarked as a welfare person within the club, BUT NOT A PLAYER.
Well considering his excuse was gastro they should have SENT A PLUMBER.

Alls well that ends well. Im betting under Madge they dont send someone around. Benji or someone at the Tigers had the compassion to send someone around to check and that was the right decision and I dont know why you are hung up on who it was....if they had sent a club official you would have complained they were checking up on him. it was a compassionate response by the club.

Do you have a consistent position on this? One minute you're saying his achievements should be respected and now people are right to turn on him. You think people turning on him give a shit about his achievements here when he thinks he's not accountable?
You can both recognise someones achievements while simultaneously recognising their behaviour has changed for the worse and he should be held accountable.

The last 18 months is not the type of player we needed and after many chances, he was held accountable.

I don't see what's wrong with recognising the timeline of events corresponds with the change in people's attitudes.

It's a shame that a player that holds our try scoring record has trashed his reputation in this way.

The enigma always the player that should have but never did really kick on and that is the shame of it.
His termination was always on the cards there was a strong rumor that Parramatta where very interested in his services if he could get a release. Instead of carrying on like a pork chop maybe he should have approached management early than he did trying to be released from his contract. Claiming he has personal issues just shows. poor character.

Idk if I’d call it compassion. I’m sure some of that was involved, but they would have been obligated.

The players are probably better equipped to handle these scenarios than the majority of the general population. Ultimately it comes down to the individual. I could be wrong but they have probably had exposure to countless leadership, mentorship, mental health and wellbeing training courses during their nrl experience.

Edit; and if Douehi was entrusted with this particular scenario could be a hint why they’ve kept him around with all his injury concerns.

Why can’t both be true ? I have the same stance . He is a club legend who has had a real poor attitude the last 2 years , which has caused his termination .
It’s sad !! There’s no other way to look at it with any empathy .
The right decision was made , but man he was awesome and the most consistent player in the team for his first 8 years .
I can’t help but feel , much like Brooks , we ruined this guy . Only it’s probably worse because if he’s in a bad way mentally , he could be on suicidal watch if he doesn’t get picked up . And yes of course it’s of his own doing .
But there’s an old saying as well , “it’s hard to soar like an eagle when you’re surrounded by turkeys”
Like I said it’s friggen sad !
